With its recent Version 3.1 Special Program, Genshin Impact undeniably hyped fans up for the upcoming patch. The release of Sumeru in the current Version 3.0 may have been arguably the biggest update of the year, but Version 3.1 is a significant one as it marks the game’s second anniversary.

In the recent live stream, it has been officially revealed that Genshin Impact will expand the map of Sumeru and add more characters including Candace, Cyno, and Nilou to the game’s roster. However, as previously stated by leaks, the upcoming version won’t only take players to the hot and mysterious desert of the region; it will also take them back to Mondstadt.

The Version 3.1 “King Deshret and the Three Magi” Trailer shows how dark and action-packed the next update will be as it mentions the resurrection of the Scarlet King and even shows Dottore and Scaramouche, two of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers.

However, the trailer switches to a more lighthearted tone as it changes focus to Mondstadt and some old friends. The trailer also shows Mika, making it his first official appearance.

In the trailer, Mika, who looks similar to some fan art created prior to his first official appearance, says:

“I am Mika, Surveyor of the Reconnaissance Company. I will now be reading Grand Master Varka’s letter aloud for you all.”

As initially mentioned in leaks, Mika will only make an in-game appearance in Version 3.1 but not become playable by then. It looks like this is indeed going to be the case as Mika is not in the banners announced during the Special Program.

These banners include the new Sumeru characters mentioned earlier and reruns for Venti and Albedo. The only thing that the leaks missed is the fact that Eula, the Captain of the Reconnaissance Company that Mika belongs to, won’t be making a banner rerun in the upcoming version.

Since the Version 3.1 trailer shows Mika delivering a message from Grand Master Varka to the Knights of Favonius, does this mean that the Grand Master will finally make an appearance soon? Only time or maybe a few leaks can tell.
