Genshin Impact: How to unlock autocook for foods

Cooking in Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact features a detailed cooking system that many players will make heavy use of, but how do you unlock the ability to autocook?

Luckily the autocook feature is quite easy to unlock in Genshin Impact, so it won’t take much before you’re ready to be mass-producing whatever foods you need, regardless of if they’re for damage buffs, healing, revives or something else entirely.

How to unlock the ability to autocook in Genshin Impact

Cooking in Genshin Impact is a useful system, that provides us with plenty of items that allow us to explore the game in entirely different ways. We’d be reliant on Barbara or Statues of the Seven for healing in the early game as F2p’s without cooking after all – but it can take a hell of a long time to actually cook quite a few meals manually, so how can we speed this up?

Fortunately, Genshin does have an autocook feature that makes this a lot easier, it allows you to cook up the maximum amount your ingredients support for that meal in the space of time it’ll otherwise take for just one manual meal.

So that sounds great, but how do we use it? Well, it comes down to Proficiency.

What is Cooking Proficiency in Genshin Impact?

You’ve probably seen this tracker before on the cooking screen at least once, though it can be easy to look over it if you’re not paying too much attention. The proficiency score is a tracker of how good you are at preparing a specific recipe, meaning it’ll vary depending on what precisely you’re trying to cook.

To increase it, you need to make a perfect version of the meal manually. That means more advanced recipes such as 4* or 5* meals will require quite a lot of manual cooking to hit that maximum proficiency score, but it’s definitely worth it.

So what happens when you reach that maximum proficiency score? You unlock the ability to autocook that meal in Genshin Impact – this means putting a decent bit of time and ingredients into the more advanced and expensive meals to get it unlocked, but the ability to easily and quickly mass produce items that are hugely useful to you isn’t something to overlook.

Of course, depending on what precisely you decide to cook, mass producing it might be somewhat difficult. Adeptus Temptation ingredients aren’t exactly the most common things around, for example.

Regardless, to unlock the autocook feature all you can do is simply keep cooking that meal in Genshin Impact until you get there.

When you’ve cooked enough, you’ll get a popup message at the side as shown here to mention that automatic cooking has been unlocked for that recipe, and you’ll then find an Auto Cook button available alongside Cook manually at the bottom of the screen.

Proficiency score will no longer be displayed for that recipe as it is no longer necessary, it is simply used to track progress to unlocking Autocook.

Is there anything else to mention?

That’s pretty much it for this one, it’s quite a simple process overall.
