  • It’s important to point out that you will only be able to link your accounts after the release of version 2.0, on July 21st.

How to Link Your PSN and miHoYo Genshin Impact Accounts

Its good to point out first that, according to miHoYo, in an official post published on the game’s official Hoyolab page, for players to be able to make use of the cross-play feature between consoles, PC, they will need to use either a PSN account that has never logged in into Genshin Impact before or an e-mail that was never used to register a miHoYo account.

You can check out below a more thoughtful look in both scenarios, as miHoYo writes in their post:

1) If the account for PSN has not been used to log into Genshin Impact, an email address that has been used to register a miHoYo Account can be linked to the account for PSN.

2) If the email address has not been used to register a miHoYo Account, an account for PSN that has been used to log into Genshin Impact can be linked to this email address. At the same time, this email address will be used to register a miHoYo Account.

With that said, you can check out how to link your PSN and miHoYo accounts in both scenarios below, as is present on miHoYO’s official post:

Case 1:

I have game progress on iOS/Android/PC and would like to link my email address, which is associated with my miHoYo Account, to my account for PSN. My account for PSN has never been used to log in to Genshin Impact.

Linking procedure:

On your PlayStation, using your account for PSN that has never previously logged in to Genshin Impact, open the game for the first time. Follow the steps in the pop-up window to link your email address that is associated with your miHoYo Account. This will link both accounts.

Case 2:
I have game progress on my PlayStation and would like to link my account for PSN to an email address that is not associated with a miHoYo Account.
Linking procedure:
Log in to Genshin Impact on your PlayStation, then go to Settings > Account > User Center > Link Account and link your account for PSN that is logged in to Genshin Impact to an email address that is not associated with a miHoYo Account. After linking, your game progress will be shared when you log into your account to play on the same server on iOS/Android/PC/PlayStation.

As we could see above, if players use the same e-mail to log in to PSN on the consoles and into their miHoYo account’s on PC, the accounts will not be able to be linked, even if you never played Genshin Impact on PC. The reason being that, when you log in on consoles for the first time, the game automatically creates a miHoYo account for the player, and it’s not possible to link the same e-mail in 2 different accounts.

The revelation divided a part of the community since in some cases, players will need to make new e-mails and accounts to play, plus the fact that PC and mobile players that only played minutes on the console will not be able to enjoy the feature with their main accounts.

You can check out all details surrounding the cross-save feature on HoYolab.
