Genshin Impact characters can go from level one to level ninety, so farming up experience quickly, and getting fast level ups is very useful.

How to level up fast in Genshin Impact

One mistake a lot of new players in Genshin Impact will make, is that they’ll attempt to level up their characters by defeating enemies. This works for a while, but at a certain point give or take a few levels to either side of level 20, it becomes extremely slow, and outright not feasible to do if you want to level up more than one party.

There are most likely people who have still done EXP grinds to the maximum level, but even those players will tell you to just use experience items instead of following their lead if you’re not looking for a gimmick.

So with that said, how do you actually level up fast in Genshin Impact? Killing things has been established as the slow way after all, so clearly something must be better, right?

Right. The main way of levelling up in Genshin impact is through the usage of experience consumable items. You can find these all over the place, quest rewards, chests etc, but the main way to actively farm them is through the use of Ley line Outcrops, specifically the “Blossom of Revelation”. These events are indicated on your map by the small blue cloud icon shown with the map image above. Clicking on it will also provide a description to verify it is in fact the correct thing if you’re not sure.

In-game, these Ley Line Outcrops will look like this. Note that if you see something very similar looking in a different colour, it has different rewards.

Touching these openings will spawn a group of enemies – what enemies you fight will depend on where the Leyline opening is. When you’ve done enough of them you’ll start to know which enemies spawn at what, and maybe even avoid some of the more annoying ones.

To get your experience item rewards, here on referred to as EXP books, you’ll need to defeat all opponents that the Leyline spawns, with an objective indicator under the mini-map keeping track.

When all enemies are defeated, a Ley Line blossom plant will grow nearby, and interacting with it will bring up the following screen.

Either usage of Resin is fine to get rewards, but if you’re looking for the fast way to level up in Genshin Impact, you’ll want to use Condensed Resin. While it gets the same rate of rewards per Resin spent, Condensed Resin will use effectively 40 at a time for doubled rewards, while a normal usage of original Resin will instead consume only 20 – meaning that Condensed Resin can be used to farm these Leyline blossoms for rewards at twice the speed you’d otherwise do so.

The rewards for a single Leyline using Condensed Resin is typically somewhere around what is shown below, 13 or so mid-tier EXP books, and around 8 to 10 high tier EXP books. As you can condense 160 Resin at a time, that means you can do this four times per day quite easily.

It should be noted that this is for higher end world levels, however. If you are playing in lower world levels, the number of items you get in total will be lower.

Each of these EXP books can be used on a character of your choice, and will grant a set amount of experience each. After you’ve farmed a few of these Ley lines, you can quickly boost a character all the way to the next ascension rank.

Consistently farming these is even a good approach to prepare materials for an upcoming character you want, as you can quite easily gather enough to take them from level 1 to level 90 as soon as you get them (if you have the required ascension materials, of course.)
