Genshin Impact: Fontaine leaks reveal early information about the region
The Dendro-focused region of Sumeru in Genshin Impact was just released two versions ago. However, as early as it may seem, Fontaine leaks are already circulating online, revealing information about the next major region.
The popular action RPG from HoYoverse is consistently adding locations to the game, with major ones apparently released annually. It can be recalled that the Japan-inspired archipelago of Inazuma was added last year, and, as previously mentioned, the rainforests and deserts of Sumeru were released earlier this year.
With this schedule, it can be presumed that the game’s next major region, Fontaine, will be added sometime in 2023.
Early Fontaine Leaks
This presumption is somehow supported by Fontaine leaks that unexpectedly came about as early as the game’s Version 3.1. In one tweet, known leaker BLANK shared, “Fontaine has hyperspeed vessels, underwater mechanics, barnacles, and big and small clamshells…”
The same thing is tweeted by another leaker Waffel, stating that “there will be some high-speed moving boat in Fontaine” and that there will also be “some undersea area.”

As a Hydro-focused nation, it can be expected that Fontaine will have mechanics associated with water. However, these Fontaine leaks are, again, only leaks and are subject to change. As mentioned several times, these should be taken with a grain of salt.
Fontaine was first mentioned in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail and was introduced with information about the Hydro Archon, stating:
“The God of Justice lives for the spectacle of the courtroom, seeking to judge all other gods. But even she knows not to make an enemy of the divine.”

However, for now, there is no information, official or not, that talks about the region’s story. What is known about Fontaine is that it has seemingly taken inspiration from France (c.1910) based on how people from Fontaine dress up. It is also important to note that Fontaine means “fountain” in French, befitting the element associated with the said nation.
Genshin Impact is an action role-playing game developed by miHoyo, also known as HoYoverse. The game is available for PC, PS4, PS5, iOS, and Android, while a release on Nintendo Switch is currently in the works.
