Genshin Impact: All of the available Elemental Reactions (Updated August 2022)
Last Updated on: 25th August 2022, 02:03 am
Each video game has its own mechanics. From optimizing your equipment to forming the best teams, it doesn’t only take skills, but also in-depth knowledge about these mechanics, to beat a game.
As for Genshin Impact, how Elemental Reactions work is the most basic thing that you need to know for you to defeat enemies easily and make progress in the game.
Luckily, most of these reactions happen in real life, too. Therefore, if you’re new to the game, you shouldn’t let these Elemental Reactions intimidate you. With this article and a little gaming experience, you’ll be an Elemental Reaction expert in no time!
Different Elemental Reactions
The Elemental Reaction screenshots in this section, except for the Dendro-related ones, were taken while challenging the Elemental Trials at the Temple of the Lion. If you’re new to the game and want to practice with the elemental reactions, you may enter this domain which can be found near Falcon Coast in Mondstadt.
Below are the different reactions you can trigger by combining the elements in Genshin Impact:
- Vaporize
Vaporize = Pyro + Hydro
Vaporize is the reaction triggered when you apply Hydro on a unit that is already affected by Pyro or vice versa. The damage multiplier is different depending on which order the elements are applied. If the triggering element (the second element) is Pyro, the damage multiplier is 1.5. If the triggering element is Hydro, the damage multiplier is 2. Take note that the multiplied damage is based on the triggering element which means that your main DPS should ideally trigger the reactions.
- Overloaded
Overloaded = Pyro + Electro
Overloaded is the reaction triggered when you apply Electro on a unit that is already affected by Pyro or vice versa. Triggering this reaction causes an AoE explosion that deals Pyro DMG. The damage dealt to the reaction target and the explosion damage effect have the same value.
- Frozen
Frozen = Hydro + Cryo
Frozen is the reaction triggered when you apply Cryo on a unit that is already affected by Hydro or vice versa. Triggering this reaction, as its name suggests, freezes the affected unit in place. Unlike other reactions, Frozen doesn’t deal any damage but allows you to freely attack the affected unit for a period of time. This duration is based on the lowest remaining duration of the two applied elements. Moreover, Frozen allows you to follow up with a reaction called Shatter which deals Physical DMG. You can do this by attacking units with claymores, plunges, explosions, and Geo DMG while they are Frozen.
- Melt
Melt = Cryo + Pyro
Melt is the reaction triggered when you apply Pyro on a unit that is already affected by Cryo or vice versa. The damage multiplier is different depending on which order the elements are applied. If the triggering element (the second element) is Pyro, the damage multiplier is 2. If the triggering element is Cryo, the damage multiplier is 1.5. Take note that the multiplied damage is based on the triggering element which means that your main DPS should ideally trigger the reactions.
- Electro-charged
Electro-charged = Hydro + Electro
Electro-charged is the reaction triggered when you apply Electro on a unit that is already affected by Hydro or vice versa. Triggering this reaction causes continuous damage to both the Electro-Charged target and any nearby targets that are Wet (affected by Hydro). Moreover, unlike most reactions, even when units are already Electro-Charged, they will still have the Hydro and Electro aura which means that you can trigger another reaction when a third element is applied.
- Superconduct
Superconduct = Cryo + Electro
Superconduct is the reaction triggered when you apply Electro on a unit that is already affected by Cryo or vice versa. Triggering this reaction deals AoE Cryo DMG and reduces the physical resistance of all enemies in the AoE by 40% for 12 seconds.
- Swirl
Swirl = Anemo + other elements except Geo and Dendro
Swirl is the reaction triggered when you apply Anemo on a unit that is already affected by Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro. It can also be done the other way around. For instance, you can hit an Anemo-affected unit with Pyro and trigger Swirl. Triggering this reaction causes AoE elemental DMG of the non-Anemo element involved.
- Crystalize
Crystalize = Geo + other elements except for Anemo and Dendro
Crystalize is the reaction triggered when you apply Geo on a unit that is already affected by Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro. Unlike Swirl, you cannot do this the other way around unless against units that have long-lasting Geo applied to themselves. Moreover, Crystalize doesn’t deal any damage. Instead, this reaction generates Elemental Shards that can be picked up for you to gain an elemental shield of the non-Geo element involved.
- Burning
Burning = Dendro + Pyro
Burning is the reaction triggered when you apply Pyro on a unit that is already affected by Dendro or vice versa. It engulfs the enemies with a Pyro aura that deals Pyro DoT (damage over time).
- Quicken
Quicken = Dendro + Electro
This Dendro Elemental Reaction is triggered when Dendro meets Electro. However, this one is interesting as it deals no damage on its own. Instead, it serves as a debuff that sets you to trigger other Dendro-related Elemental Reactions including Spread and Aggravate.
- Spread
Spread = Quicken + Dendro
After affecting enemies with Quicken, you can hit them with a Dendro attack to trigger Spread. Interestingly, Spread doesn’t simply amplify the Dendro damage type. Instead, it adds a flat DMG bonus to a Dendro attack with a damage multiplier of 1.25. Moreover, it can deal CRIT damage.
- Aggravate
Aggravate = Quicken + Electro
Similar to Spread, you can trigger Aggravate only after hitting enemies affected with Quicken. However, this time, you will need to attack them with Electro. The mechanic for Aggravate is also similar to Spread as it gives a flat DMG bonus to an Electro attack and can deal CRIT. The difference is that Aggravate deals slightly less damage than Spread does. This reaction has a damage multiplier of 1.15.
- Bloom
Bloom = Dendro + Hydro
Bloom is triggered when Dendro meets Hydro. The reaction will cause Dendro Cores to drop near the affected enemy. When left on their own, the Dendro Cores will explode and deal AoE Dendro DMG after approximately six seconds. When hit with Hydro or Electro, other reactions occur.
- Hyperbloom
Hyperbloom = Bloom + Electro
You can trigger Hyperbloom when you attack Bloom-generated Dendro Cores with Electro. This reaction has a whopping damage multiplier of 3x and deals single-target Dendro DMG.
- Burgeon
Burgeon = Bloom + Pyro
Burgeon occurs when you attack Bloom-generated Dendro Cores with Pyro. Similar to Hyperbloom, this one has a 3x damage multiplier. However, it deals AoE Dendro DMG instead of single-target.
