Genshin Impact Dehya: The new dark-skinned character is catching fans’ attention

Genshin Impact is still two versions away from Version 3.0. However, the excitement for the game’s biggest update this year has been building up as more and more leaks circulate on various online platforms.
Data miners previously shared not only the images of characters expected to arrive when the new region Sumeru becomes available, but they also shared what these characters’ Visions are going to be. Some of them even had their talents or abilities laid out. These include leaks for characters such as Tighnari, Collei, Dori, and Al-Haitham.
Recently, an image was shared by @genshinmains on Twitter. This brought more intrigue as the image shows seven supposed characters from Sumeru, two of which are new to the eyes of fans.
From left to right, the seven characters include Tighnari, Collei, Dehya, Al-Haitham, Nilou, Dori, and Kusanali. Except for Dehya and Nilou, the other characters have already had their models leaked.
Among all these characters, Dehya specifically caught the eye of many fans as she is the only character in the image who has a dark skin tone. Filled with mostly pale-skinned characters, HoYoverse has always been called out by fans for not releasing more diverse characters and for using almost the same prototype repeatedly. The same can be said for the characters’ body type which led fans to request supposedly big characters such as Varka.
Another thing that fans pointed out about Dehya is her cat-like ears, making her another one of the few Genshin Impact characters with animal features including Gorou, Diona, and more recently, Tighnari.
However, details of Dehya as a playable character are limited at the moment. Little is known about her except that she is supposedly a Pyro character who wields the Claymore as her weapon, similar to another dark-skinned character Xinyan.
Right now, there’s already a subreddit dedicated to the upcoming character, and it’s filled with fan arts and memes.
