Genshin Impact announces Version 2.7 update delay

After speculations of an update delay, Genshin Impact’s official twitter account has finally announced that Version 2.7 would be postponed due to “project progress.”
In a recent tweet, the official account of Genshin Impact said:
Dear Travelers,
Due to project progress, the Version 2.7 update will be postponed. For detailed information on the date of the new update, content adjustment plan, and compensation, please stay tuned for upcoming announcements.

They also added that they would be providing more information as soon as possible and apologized for the inconvenience caused, saying:
We will provide the corresponding information to Travelers as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. Thank you for your support and understanding along this journey.
Why is Genshin Impact Version 2.7 delayed?
While the tweets haven’t stated any reason why the update is delayed aside from “project progress,” the community thinks that this has something to do with the lockdowns associated with the COVID-19 outbreak in China.
How did fans react to the delay?
Until now, Genshin Impact has been strictly following a six-week cycle between each update that even the first two years of COVID-19 didn’t cause any delays on the cycle at all.
This delay, therefore, is historic.
Considering how most fans notoriously react to small perceived slights such as when they were dissatisfied with the rewards during the game’s anniversary, angry comments are expected.

However, this isn’t the case this time. Most fans expressed their sympathy and wished that the staff stay safe amid the crisis. Some fans even shared threads about how tough the situation is right now in China.
One user, @_Khaenriah_, replied to Genshin Impact‘s post, saying:
“Thread for more insight of what’s going on and the reason they’re postponing it: (stay safe staff)”
When is Version 2.7 expected to be released?
At the moment, there have been no announcements yet regarding the rescheduling of Version 2.7’s release. However, considering that the game primarily earns from its gacha system, it is safe to say that the wait won’t be long.
Genshin Impact Version 2.7 is expected to release the new characters Yelan and Kiku Shinobu. It is also expected to release banner reruns for Itto and Xiao.
