Genshin Impact: 5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Barbatos

Barbatos is one of The Seven Gods in Genshin Impact. While most players know that he is the ruler of Mondstadt and that his mortal guise is Venti, they probably don’t know or have already forgotten at least one of the fun facts below.

1. Barbatos’s Original Form is a wisp-like spirit.

The original form of Barbatos is a mere elemental spirit. Before he became a god, he looked wisp-like. It was in this form where he would meet and made friends with the Nameless Bard who is the inspiration of his current mortal form, Venti, and explains why Barbatos‘s statue consists of two braids.

Who knows that Venti is only Barbatos‘ mortal guise? The Traveler, Jean, and Diluc are some of the few people who do.

2. Barbatos is not young at all.

In Venti’s story quest, it was revealed that a rebellion against Decarabian, the God of Storms and founder of the nation of Mondstadt, took place 2,600 years ago. It was during this time that Barbatos was still in his wisp-like form.

This means that he is over 2,600 years old

3. Barbatos made Mondstadt the City of Freedom.

The rebellion took place because Decarabian surrounded the old Mondstadt with a fierce storm, thinking that people were protected in doing so.

During the rebellion, the Nameless Bard was killed. But Decarabian was overthrown.

Barbatos changed Mondstadt into the city of freedom. The region looked so different from what it looks like today. He reshaped Mondstadt‘s terrain and climate into its current state, and most importantly, he valued freedom more than anything else, not ruling over the region directly as opposed to the other gods and a total opposite of Decarabian’s views.

4. Barbatos’s church members sometimes doubt his existence.

As a freedom-loving god, Barbatos just allows his subjects to do their thing without necessarily intervening most of the time. Because of this, some of his faithful doubt his existence.

At one point, his absence caused a civil war in Mondstadt 1000 years ago. Barbatos eventually saw this and assisted the legendary hero Vennessa to gain back the freedom for the city.

5. Barbatos formed the Four Winds.

After the civil war, Barbatos assigned 4 entities to watch oversee Mondstadt’s safety. These include the Wolf of the North, the Lion of the South, the Dragon of the East, and the Falcon of the West

And guess what? He disappeared again.

So, how many did you not know about? If you already knew all of these, you probably deserve a new song from Venti!
