Genshin Impact 3.1: Release date, banners, events and more

genshin impact 3.1 featured

Last Updated on: 16th September 2022, 05:22 pm

The first expansion to the Sumeru patch is almost here! The newest Special Livestream for the Genshin Impact 3.1 update dropped all the information on the upcoming areas, characters, and enemies we’ll face as we progress in our adventures in the land of Dendro.

“The King Deshret and the Three Magi” update advances the Archon Quest plot after the dramatic conclusion from “The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings” as the Traveler heads to the west. In contrast, the main event in this version leads us back to the initial region from Mondstatd to the east.

This quicker-than-usual update will also bring the new playable characters Cyno, Nilou, and Candace, which will all be featured in this version banners. Reruns for some of the beloved Mondstadt characters will also occur.

In order to make up for the forcibly extended 2.6 version, this update (as well as the next one) will last for around 4 weeks instead of the usual 6 and will be released on September 28.

The Livestream was also packed with many announcements, such as the Anniversary Rewards and the future of the game.

New characters and banners order in Genshin Impact 3.1

As previously speculated based on leaks and official information, the first phase will feature Cyno, one of the first Sumeru characters ever revealed, alongside the rerun for Venti. They will be accompanied by the 4-star newcomer Candace.

The dancer Nilou is the star of the version’s second half, alongside Albedo instead of Eula as it was speculated. The double banners will run for 15 days as did the Tighnari/Zhongli and the Ganyu/Kokomi duos.

New main story updates

Starting from where we left in the 3.0 quests, the Traveler will continue its opposition to the Akademiya as he finds new obstacles in his way. The resurrection of the Scarlet King will be a key point here as it seems to be one of the involved parties’ main goals.

As for other agents in this confusion, the Fatui finally show their faces in Sumeru. The trailer shows us Dottore in-game for the first time, and we also catch a glimpse at Scaramouche, probably before his new Weekly Boss fight. The fight itself wasn’t mentioned, so it could either be postponed to the 3.2 version or simply be a surprise.

Events

The new events have been previously leaked and compilated here, but we now have more concrete information on each one of them.

The main event for the Genshin Impact 3.0 update is the Of Ballads and Brews in Mondstadt, which will feature most of its playable characters in a special celebration similar to the Windblume Festival back in the 1.4 version. Its focus will be on Razor’s origins being revealed.

It will also reward players with the Missive Windspear, a new event-exclusive weapon, and will include minigames such as chasing boars, finding special messages around the city, and managing your own “shop”

This event will also introduce Mika, a future playable character who departed from the city alongside Varka in his exploration. He comes back with an official letter from the Grandmaster and will be our first link of information about him.

Wind Chaser is an event based on platforming. Similar to the Divine Ingenuity event, our goal is to get all the coins in the Domain making use of the Wind Currents, as well as fight some enemies along the way.

Another new event in this patch is Star-Seeker Sojourn, which focuses on exploration and finding lost stars in the region of Sumeru. Other events include the return of the Hyakunin Ikki battle event from Inazuma.

We also got information on the anniversary rewards, which will feature the usual login event + some rewards sent directly to our emails, just like the previous anniversary (after the controversy, of course). These rewards include special commemorative Gadgets, 1600 Primogems, and more.

New enemies, features and more

In the new desert area of Sumeru, we’ll find a new World Boss in the Aeonblight Drake, a new Ruin-type monster that is considered “the mightiest of the Ruin Drakes”, the new creations from Khaenri’ah introduced in the update.

Collei will also be permanently added as a Free Character for players! She’s now a reward for clearing the Abyss 4th floor (one floor higher than Xiangling), making that every player will always have access to another Dendro character other than the Traveler.

As happened last year, the initial Top-up bonus will be reset, meaning that you can get bonus Genesis Crystals for your next (first) purchase.

Genius Invokation was finally announced officially. The TCG will not be introduced in Genshin Impact 3.1, but during the 3.3 update instead, we got the confirmation that players will indeed be able to battle each other. Rewards are, however, focused on PvE modes only.
