With Genshin Impact 3.0 just being released, more information is being leaked about the rest of Sumeru. This is about 31% of the map.

A leaked photo covering what would be 31% of the map of Sumeru is buzzing around social media today. The photo showed what The Downwind Erosion, Sandplain Colonnade, and The Windward Erosion should look like once the addition has been completed to the map of Sumeru. The landscape stretches sandy plains with dunes, mountains, and caverns around the map. It also has scattered oases that could play a role in the game.

With around 38% of the map already released for the recent 3.0 update, this should total about 69% of what we can expect in Sumeru. With a giant map of sand, mountains, and huge structures, we can expect that traversing this part of the map will be a new experience for the game players. The scenic teaser is an homage to the iconic Sahara desert with arid plains and sparse vegetation.

The leak came from a recent tweet from a Twitter user, UBatcha. The user is known to tweet some spoilers of Genshin Impact days or weeks before the release. They also recently posted videos and playthroughs of the game long before the official release of the 3.0 update.

Genshin Impact: The new desert area of Sumeru in the 3.1 update

The Downwind Erosion appears to be the gateway for the rest of the map. It connects the seemingly endless desert to Sumeru’s recently released, lush green land. The Downwind Erosion could be connected to either the Ruins of Dahri or Caravan Ribat. These two are the current borders of the recently released map of Sumeru. If you are coming from Apam Woods and head east to Ruins of Dahri, it should lead you to a string of mountains which would likely be the entrance to The Downwind Erosion.

The Sandplain Colonnade looks like the biggest chunk of the map. It covers the sandy arid plains of the map. At the center of this is an infrastructure that looks like a pyramid. It fits perfectly on the map as it feels like a journey to Egypt. This pyramid looks like it has four entrances on each side. Knowing mihoYo, they would likely put a spin on this just to make sure it becomes a lasting experience for their players. Completing The Sandplain Colonnade are three smaller structures that may be equally entrancing as the one in the middle.

If you go south from The Downwind Erosion, you will get to The Windward Erosion. As the road diverges to the lower section of the map, The Windward Erosion looks like a similar scene to The Downwind Erosion. However, the map appears to have fewer man-made structures and more caverns and dunes. This may be an indication that this is the part of the map where monsters are most likely lurking.

Genshin Impact: Sumeru gameplay trailer at Gamescon 2022

The Sumeru gameplay trailer recently released at the Gamescon 2022 also showed a glimpse of what we could possibly experience in the next coming weeks. This gave us a taste of the stunning visuals and mesmerizing music we would likely experience once we are on the actual gameplay of this part of Sumeru.

There were statues and sculptures inside a building in what we can only assume is the pyramids inside the Sandplain Colonnade. This could also mean an array of treasure and a string of quests and side quests as the trailer ends with a quaint small village appearing as an entrance to the desert plain. This is likely a glimpse of what The Downwind Erosion would look like.

For almost two years, Genshin Impact has offered players a view of endless greenery and a thriving populace. Once this pushes through, we can expect a new perspective from the Hoyoverse community as they take on a more barren land for the players to enjoy.
