Genshin Impact 2.8 Release date, banners, events and more
The Special Program livestream for Genshin Impact has revealed the 2.8 release date, as well as the many upcoming events, banners, new outfits and characters to appear in this new update. And, of course, no livestream would be complete without those sweet Primogems codes.
The “Summer Fantasia” update is marking the return of the Golden Apple Archipelago temporary area, this time in a completely new fashion as it’s being a follow-up to previous events. Speaking of them, characters that were most relevant during them such as Fischl, Mona and Xinyan are back in this version’s main event.
Genshin Impact version 2.8 release date
The version is being released on July 11, and will immediately bring the new banners and the Islands to the game. We currently have the Arataki Itto banner and the Core of the Apparatus event while waiting for this major update.
Genshin Impact 2.8 version banners
The first banner is a duo rerun of Kaedehara Kazuha and Klee, and the featured weapons are the Freedom-Sworn sword and the Lost Prayer to the Secret Winds catalyst, both fit for each of them.
The newcomer Shikanoin Heizou, a 4-star Anemo character and the first male catalyst character in the game, will also be present during these banners as a rate-up 4-star.
The second part of the update is having a Yoimiya rerun, with the Thundering Pulse bow as the featured weapon. These will be the last banners before Sumeru, so if you’re thinking about getting some of the new region characters, roll with caution!

Island and story events
As previously mentioned, the Golden Apple Archipelago is becoming available once again, and players can explore it to find treasures, enemies and puzzles. The main Story Event is also happening here, and veteran players will have a good nostalgic feeling.
The new story quest introduced in the game will heavily feature Kazuha and his family’s blacksmithing work, something that was briefly touched upon during the 2.5 events.
The Summertime Odyssey event is the main combat event, which is Genshin’s bread and butter combat dungeons with some quirks. A new type of event is Reminiscent Regiment, which will be a Co-op only event, featuring combat, Waverider action and gliding challenges.
Resonating Visions is this year’s version of the couch-collecting event, in which you’ll learn stories from the island in past time by collecting them all. And the reward is, of course, the new Fischl outfit, Ein Immernachtstraum.
The Hidden Strife event is focused on Diluc, focusing on new lore for the Dawn Winery owner and his new Red Dead of Night outfit. As stated by the livestream hosters, this will be Genshin’s first 5-star outfit, meaning it’s rarer (and more expansive) than others!
Other events include the Evermotion Mechanical Painting, set for the latter part of the update.

Sumeru teaser
The 2.8 Global livestream had a lot of lag problems, such as being cut short or going back to previous points multiple times. The end was supposed to feature a small Sumeru teaser, accompanied by a female child speaking with the Traveler, possibly Kusanali.
But sadly, it was cut short from the global stream altogether, so here’s the Chinese version, obtained from Reddit.
