Genshin Impact 2.3: New treasure chest found in the overworld

genshin 2.3 new chests featured

A new treasure chest was introduced to the game in the 2.3 updates of Genshin Impact, even though it wasn’t announced in the patch notes. The chest is located at an early game area, which makes it almost impossible for players to have missed it before.

Reports of this new treasure chest were made in the early days of the update, so players slowly started to look for it and confirm its existence. And after many players questioned themselves about it, they finally discovered how it was possible for a chest to be randomly added in this specific place.

The chest is located at Dadaupa Gorge, at one of the larger Hilichurl camps close to the Electro Hypostasis. You can easily access it by teleporting to the domain nearby.

If you’ve been playing for some time, you might question yourself (as many did): “How have I missed this chest for so long?”. And the answer might not be what you expect, as this chest is not actually new, but somewhat a “respawn”.

Genshin usually doesn’t add new treasure chests to previous areas, but you may miss some chests along the way. Normally, those are lower-quality treasures, attached to a one-time dungeon feature in a quest, and don’t even give out Primogems.

The chest in Dadaupa Gorge is, actually, available from day 1. The problem is that the same chest is used during the “Crystal Tears” Archon Quest, and contained one of the items needed to purify Dvalin.

But miHoYo overlooked the fact that a chest (the “new” one) was previously placed there. If you triggered the quest without looting it (which many players did), it would vanish forever even after completing the storyline.

This was a bug, and it was corrected in the recent version. So don’t panic if you can’t find this chest. You were probably one of the lucky few who actually got it way back.

A similar case seems to happen with a chest in Guyun Stone Forest, guarded by a Ruin Hunter near the 4 sleeping Ruin Guardians. Some players also found a “new” treasure chest in the area, so it wouldn’t hurt to check that area again. Free primos are always welcome.
