Genshin Impact 2.0: The Inazuma Diaries reveal new features

Now that we’re less than 1 week away from the next big Genshin Impact update, miHoYo started to release more details about what the update will include, in the format of The Inazuma Diaries.

The first volume was released today, and we may expect some more until we finally can set sail to the Electro Region.

You can check out the original post in the Holoyab forums. This volume is titled “The Mysterious Electro Element”, and covers some of the exploration elements we’ll be finding through the islands.

This first part introduces the Electrogranums, which will work in the same fashion as the Scarlet Quartz from Dragonspine. Using them, you can interact with some other elements from Inazuma, like the Thunder Barriers, which can guard treasures and different kinds of loot.

They can also be used to get on the Thunder Spheres, which will carry the Traveler through the air making a much smoother exploration.

The Electrogranums will also be used to defend yourself against the Thunderstones – electrocharged formations that deal constant damage.

They will also protect the Traveler against the Balethunder phenomenon, where you can constantly lose HP due to being in a heavy electro-infused area. So basically, Electrogramums are your best friends in the whole region.

Some other new mechanics from the region are revealed: The Electro Seelies, which fortunately won’t electrify us, only bringing us out of our way to a neat treasure, and also the new electro-infused stones, which will react with other elements,

Finally, we have the previous leaked Sacred Sakura. The Sakura will work like the Frostbearing Tree from Dragonspine, giving you new bonuses the more you level it up. The mountain was just an Inazuma beta experience in the end, huh?

We’ll need to offer our Electro Sigils to the tree in order to level it up. The bad part (or maybe is a good one) is that, according to the previous leaks, the Sigils will be time-gated, since some chests won’t be immediately available the moment we set foot on Inazuma, and we’ll need to wait some days to be able to get them.

This has been a dividing topic in the community. While this will greatly extend the time we’ll spend exploring the new region, making the game feel “alive” for a little longer, it’s also restraining the progress one can make.

We can expect more entries of The Inazuma Diaries in the next few days. Genshin Impact is at the end of its 1.6 Version, “Midsummer Island Adventure ”, and it’s available to play for free on mobile devices, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and PC through miHoYo’s launcher or Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch port is already in development.
