Genshin Impact 2.0: All about the new weapons

genshin new weapons

Last Updated on: 10th July 2021, 03:30 am

Today, during the Special Program of the 2.0 version of Genshin Impact, we got a first look at the new weapons available in the new region of Inazuma. Aside from the new 5-star limited ones, we also got 5 new craftable weapons, one for each type.

We already had some previous looks on the new weapons from past leaks, but now they’re officially revealed. So let’s take a look at those weapons. All data presented here is from the Honey Impact database, so names and effects might differ in the final release.

First, let’s start with the 5-star limited weapons:

Thundering Pulse

Base attack:46
Secondary Stat:Crit Dmg%
Passive:Rule By Thunder
Passive Description:Increases ATK by 20/25/30/35/40% and grants the might of the Thunder Seal. At stack levels 1/2/3, the Thunder Seal increases Normal Attack DMG by 12/24/40%15/30/59%18/36/60%21/42/70%24/48/80%. The character will obtain 1 stack of Thunder Seal in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Skill (stacks lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack’s duration is calculated independently.

An incredible bow for main dps characters (hello, Childe and Yoimiya). The effect is best used when the character is constantly on the field using his normal attacks. While it’s not a bad option for a quick swap character like Venti or Fischl (when not built as main dps), some other good options are available for those, so it is not a “must have” for them. Ganyu can also use it, but since it only gives you a seal for Normal Attacks, and not Charged ones, Amos is probably still better.

Mistsplitter’s Reflection

Secondary StatCrit Dmg%
PassiveMistsplitter’s Sheath
Passive DescriptionGain a 12/15/18/21/24% Elemental DMG Bonus for every element and receive the might of Mistsplitter’s Seal. At stack levels 1/2/3, Mistsplitter’s Seal provides a 8/16/2810/20/3512/24/4214/28/4916/32/56% Elemental DMG Bonus for the character’s Elemental Type. The character will obtain 1 stack of Mistsplitter’s Seal in each of the following scenarios: Normal Attack deals Elemental DMG (stack lasts 5s), casting Elemental Burst (stacks lasts 10s); Energy is less than 100% (stack disappears when Energy is full). Each stack’s duration is calculated independently.

Fitting both as a consistent and aesthetically good choice, this will be the BiS sword for Keqing. The passive is pretty simple to active with her constant Elemental Burst spamming and high energy recharge from her talents. Ayaka will also love this sword, and we can expect that both will run together on the banners. You can also be creative and use it on things like Cryo Kaeya with Chongyun support to get the Elemental Infusion on your autos.

Now for the 4-star weapons announced. Again, all of them will be craftable, but according to leakers, we will need the Amethyst Lump ore, exclusive from Inazuma, to use in their recipes. Inazuma will probably have new methods for obtaining weapon billets, so don’t worry if you don’t have any right now.

Also, from what we’ve seen in the Genshin Impact Special Program, it seems that Mihoyo decided to go with the new weapons’ Japanese names instead of the translations. We’ll use both of them here to be sure we’re on the same page.

Amenoma Kageuchi

Secondary StatAtk %
PassiveIwakura Sucession
Passive DescriptionAfter casting an Elemental Skill, gain 1 Succession Seed. This effect can be triggered once every 5s. The Succession Seed lasts for 30s. Up to 3 Succession Seeds may exist simultaneously. After using an Elemental Burst, all Succession Seeds are consumed and after 2s, the character regenerates 6/7.5/9/10.5/12 Energy for each seed consumed.

Also known as Amenoma Kageuta Blade. Characters like Bennett, Kaeya and also the upcoming Electro Traveler will be able to use it to the fullest and also get some extra damage from the secondary stat. This will surely help to deal with energy-demanding teams.

PassiveFull Draw
Passive DescriptionIncreases Normal Attack DMG by 16/20/24/28/32% and Charged ATK DMG by 12/15/18/21/24%. When the equipping character’s Energy reaches 100%, this effect is increased by 100%.

Known as the Demon-Slayer Bow. At first look, it seems like a budget version of Thundering Pulse, and that’s pretty much like it. But this bow actually gets a bonus for having full energy, so that’s a plus for casting a Burst with the extra damage. Also, this bow’s passive will work with Ganyu, so it’s a new F2P option other than the Prototype Crescent bow.

Kitain Cross Spear

Base attack44
Secondary StatElemental Mastery
PassiveSamurai Conduct
Passive DescriptionIncreases Elemental Skill DMG by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, lose 3 Energy but regenerate 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.

This is the only 4-star weapon that does not have a name variation. And with such a unique effect, it does not need it. Since we still have so few polearm users in the game, the best options for this spear are Rosaria and Xiangling. Since both of them are popularly used to create elemental reactions, it’s actually a good weapon for them. Maybe not the best, but surely a viable option.

Katsuragikiri Nagamasa

Secondary StatEnergy Recharge %
PassiveSamurai Conduct
Passive DescriptionIncreases Elemental Skill DMG by 6/7.5/9/10.5/12%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, lose 3 Energy but regenerate 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field.

Also known as Katsuragi Slasher. It has the same effect as the polearm. The ER% makes it a better weapon overall, and we may use it for some quick swapping with sub-DPS like Beidou or Chongyun. But I believe this is the most dispensable of the new weapons since Genshin Impact already has some better claymores for them.

Hakushin Ring

Base attack44
Secondary StatEnergy Recharge %
PassiveSakura Palace
Passive DescriptionAfter the character equipped with this weapon triggers an Electro elemental reaction, nearby party members of an Elemental Type involved in the elemental reaction receive a 10/12.5/15/17.5/20% Elemental DMG Bonus for their element, lasting 6s. Elemental Bonuses gained in this way cannot be stacked.

Also named as White Dragon Ring. The perfect catalyst for support to boost the team’s damage. Sadly, the only good users right now would be Lisa (who is not one of the best catalyst users without some Constellations) and Mona (who would require another Electro support on the team). Sucrose may be good with it, but for crafted weapons, Mappa Mare is still better on her.

This would not be the first time that Genshin Impact introduced new weapons without ideal users for them. Just think back to the time when Dragonspine weapons arrived. They were introduced, but their favorite users (namely, Rosaria and Eula) only got in the game a few patches later. According to leakers, Yae Miko is supposed to be an Electro/Catalyst, so maybe this is her future F2P weapon.
