Genshin Impact “Core of the Apparatus” Guide: How to obtain robots through “Freestyle Creations”

After a series of quests, Bertrand‘s “Great Machine” is finally working. Now, it’s time for you to create and get some robots through Freestyle Creations.

If you have questions about how you can unlock Freestyle Creations or how exactly you can get the robots that you want, you’ve come to the right place! We will walk you through this article.

How to unlock “Freestyle Creations”

To access Freestyle Creations during the Core of the Apparatus event, you should have already completed the quest A-Toymaking We Shall Go: Core Propulsion.

After completing the said quest, you should speak with Bertrand. He will tell you that he made improvements to the toy machine and the Material Collector, making the process of robot production faster. This will complete the quest A-Toymaking We Shall Go: Mass Production.

How to obtain robots in the “Core of the Apparatus” event

If you want to get a specific robot from freestyle creations, be sure to check out our complete list of robot recipes. Once you already have one in mind, simply follow the steps below:

Step 1: Equip the Material Collector. Just like the previous quests, you should make sure that this item is equipped for you to gather the necessary materials for the robot.

Step 2: Collect 5 ores, flowers, or fruits in the wild. You will choose between Ores and Flowers/Fruit depending on the robot that you want to get. Check out our Core of the Apparatus (Day 1) Event Guide for the complete list of ores, flowers, and fruits.

In the image below, the goal was to obtain a Mirrorpool Triped: Tipping robot, thus the collection of ores:

Step 3: Open the Material Collector. Once the collection of ores, flowers, or fruits is complete, you will need to access the Material Collector. Here, you will see that the first collection of materials is complete and that you will need to proceed to the next step.

Step 4: Be affected by Pyro, Hydro, or Electro for 15 seconds. Choose one element depending on the robot that you want to get. Check out our Core of the Apparatus (Day 2) Event Guide for some tips on how you can apply the elements to your active character.

In the image below, Chongyun was simply staying in the water to be affected with Hydro for 15 seconds. The goal was to obtain a Mirrorpool Triped: Tipping robot, thus the application of Hydro:

Step 5: Open the Material Collector again. Once the elemental charge is complete, you will need to access the Material Collector to proceed to the next step.

Step 6: Defeat elemental life forms. You can fight Slimes, Specters, or normal/world bosses like Hypostases or Oceanids depending on the robot that you want to get. To know which enemy you should defeat, check out our complete list of robot recipes.

Again, the goal in the image below is to get a Mirrorpool Triped: Tipping robot, thus the fight with a Hypostasis.

Step 6: Open the Material Collector again. Now you can choose to Go and Create a robot.

Step 7: Report back to Bertrand and choose “create test products.” By doing so, you will use up the materials you collected and get a robot redemption voucher, completing the freestyle creations session and starting anew.

Again, the product you will get depends on the materials you gathered in the previous steps.

Step 8: Redeem the robot by talking to Bertrand again, choosing “I’d like to pick a toy to keep.” Note that you can only redeem up to four robots, so do this only when you like the robot you’re trying to redeem.

Once redeemed, the robot can be placed in your Serenitea Pot. You will also find it in the Furnishings section of your Inventory.
