Genshin Impact 3.0: Is the Alternate Sprint finally getting an improvement?

Genshin Impact Ayaka Elemental Burst

With an ever-expanding world and vast areas that you can already explore, Genshin Impact is easily one of the best open world games right now. Therefore, it goes without saying that characters with good exploration abilities are vital for traversing the scenic bodies of land and water in the game.

Such characters include those who have the Alternate Sprint, a special kind of sprint that is not only faster than the regular one but also allows players to make their way across areas that are otherwise inaccessible. Moreover, this kind of sprint consumes lower stamina than the regular sprint that other characters have and even ignores stamina debuffs.

Which characters have the Alternate Sprint?

Mona was the first ever character to have this kind of sprint, and she was later followed by Ayaka. With their Alternate Sprints, players no longer have to swim so slowly across bodies of water. Instead, they can sprint over them!

There are also some characters with alternate sprint-like Elemental Skills such as Yelan and Sayu. With their Elemental Skills, they can quickly move around as if they also have the Alternate Sprint.

The problem with alternate sprinting

However, the problem with these characters’ sprints happens when even the slightest obstacles stop them in their tracks.

For instance, Ayaka suddenly gets frozen in time when she alternate sprints on stairs or even some seemingly flat surfaces, and you’re not really sure what stops her. Is there a hole or a stone that is too small for us to notice? We’re not really sure. What we’re sure of is that it can be quite annoying.

Improvements on the Alternate Sprint could happen soon

Luckily, it appears that this problem will less likely to take place in the near future. A video of Genshin Impact 3.0 Beta has recently leaked, and it shows players a significant improvement on the special sprint.

The video was shared by @SagiriShape on Twitter. In it, we can see Ayaka doing her Alternate Sprint to climb up stairs and move past uneven surfaces such as the fountain in the City of Mondstadt. She even sprinted over the tables at the Good Hunter!

We can also see Sayu here, and her Elemental Skill is significantly smoother than ever.

Another video was also posted on Reddit. Featuring Yelan and Ayaka, it compares the current state of the sprint with the supposed improved sprint in 3.0.

What do you think of this improvement? While this hasn’t been confirmed, we sure hope that this gets implemented when Sumeru is released.
