Cyno’s banner is almost over, and another dancer will soon rise to the stage. The Nilou banner characters have been officially revealed by Hoyoverse, and the 5-star Hydro Sword character will be featured in the second half banners alongside Albedo, the 5-star Geo Sword character who’s finally having his third go on banners.

The banners will run from 10/14 to 11/01, which will be the day on which the 3.2 patch drops, bringing both Nahida and Layla and, supposedly, the long-awaited conclusion to the Sumeru Archon Quests.

Nilou has her spotlight during the 3.0 quests, where she was the main dancer in the Sabzeruz Festival held in Sumeru. Albedo on the other hand had his moments in past quests centered around Dragonspine, and made a small cameo during one of the quests of the current version’s main event “Of Brews and Ballads”.

Nilou’s banner will be composed by herself and the featured 4-star characters Xiangling, Beidou and Barbara. Sadly, as we currently have only Collei as a 4-star Dendro character and she was just released, none of the Nilou banner characters enables her main gimmick, which is enabling enhanced Bloom reactions. Including a Dendro 4* in the mix to do so would have meant rerunning Collei almost immediately, which HoYoVerse do not typically, if ever do.

But don’t think those characters are necessarily bad with her. They do work pretty well together, but there may be better options.

Albedo, on the other hand, is more suited for a Sub DPS role. In other words, teams are not built around him, but the other way around. The introduction of the Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact set reinforced this identity of his.

As usual, not only the Nilou banner characters were revealed, but we also got to take a look at the Weapon Banner.

Since we have two sword users in the Character Banner, it’s not unexpected to have two swords in the Weapon Banner too.

And boy, those are some good swords. We have Nilou’s Signature Weapon (even if it doesn’t fit her visuals at all), Key of Khaj-Nisut, which grants her an even higher boost to her main stats, and the Primordial Jade Cutter, considered by many the best sword in the game thanks to its versatility and incredible base stats.

Key of Khaj-Nisut is more of a niche weapon at the moment. Not because it’s just bad, but there are currently no other sword-wielding characters that scale mainly from HP. Bennett could probably use it, but there are better options for him already.

Primordial Jade Cutter is one of those options. Critical Rate is almost a universal stat, and this weapon comes with lots of it. Its passive also helps Nilou a lot too since it increased her base HP and grants her extra ATK based on her maximum Health.

Should I roll in the Nilou/Albedo banner?

If you’re focused on team building, Albedo is always welcome as one of the best Sub-DPS in the game. His versatility makes him easy to fit in almost every team. Pairing him with Zhongli + any DPS character and another support will almost always result in a competent team.

Nilou, as mentioned before, is more of a niche character. Like Childe and Kokomi, she’s best played as an enabler for other characters. In this case, Dendro is her area of expertise. Take a look at her skills if you want more details.

Due to her kit, it’s very possible that she’ll be a good fit with Nahida when she’s finally out. But even if they’re not as compatible, she has good numbers on her own and should be a good standalone character in the end.

As far as the 4* roster goes, remember that the Nilou Banner characters will also be in the Albedo banner too, as 4* characters are shared across both featured banners as a rule. That means you can expect to see the Nilou banner characters Xiangling, Beidou and Barbara alongside Albedo too.

If you’re looking for a proven, reliable character, go for Albedo. But if you want to get a taste of a new character with stance-changing mechanics, Nilou’s the one to go.

Remember that if you’re rolling only for the Nilou banner characters, you may end up getting one of the 5-stars that you didn’t want, so spend responsibly.
