Fortnite Season 3 New Weapons, are they any good? Hammer Assault Rifle, Two-Shot Shotgun, DMR

With competitive shooters such as Fortnite, the loot pool can make or break the game. Each season, Epic Games shakes up the loot pool of Fortnite by introducing new weapons as well as vaulting and unvaulting existing weapons and items.

This is once again the case with Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3 and this time Epic Games has introduced three brand new weapons into the game, the Hammer Assault Rifle, Two-Shot Shotgun, and DMR (Designated marksman rifle).

But, with an expansive loot pool already in the game, are these new weapons any good, and should you be including them in your loadout? Let’s find out.

The Hammer Assault Rifle is a new gun that has been added in Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 3. It features a 20-round magazine and fits nicely between an Assault Rifle and an SMG.

Unfortunately, with the current loot pool, there just isn’t really a need for the Hammer Assault Rifle. It runs out of ammo too quickly and other weapons serve the same purpose but better. The only plus would be it can fire at a longer range than the Combat SMG.

But, using the Striker Burst Assault Rifle will almost always be the better option, and even the Ranger is a good choice when compared to the Hammer Assault Rifle.

And then every loadout should have an SMG too, whether it is the Striker or Combat SMG, leaving little need to add this to your loadout.

Two-Shot Shotgun

The Two-Shot Shotgun is a burst Shotgun that fires two rounds in quick succession, with each having a tight spread that can make it a pretty lethal weapon to use.

In total, four shots (or eight shells) can be fired before it needs to be reloaded. The firing speed is fairly slow but realistically it isn’t too much different from the Striker Pump Shotgun.

Overall, this is a pretty good Shotgun, and with the removal of the Drum Shotgun, it could become a strong part of a player’s loadout.

If I had to rank it I would say it is better than the Auto Shotgun but not as good as the Striker Pump. But, if the Striker Pump Shotgun isn’t for you then give this one a try.

DMR

Finally is the DMR, a new long-ranged Sniper Rifle style weapon that takes the place of the Scoped Assault Rifle. The DMR has 10-rounds in its magazine and has a pretty quick fire rate, with each shot dealing around 50 damage.

Overall, it is a very solid weapon and if you’re in need of a weapon that can handle a longer range than an Assault Rifle then this will get the job done.
