Fortnite gets a new lobby screen ahead of Season 2 Doomsday event

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 will end in just a couple of weeks and the current season really has flown over.

As with most Fortnite seasons, players can expect an end-of-season event that will further the story and usher in Chapter 3 Season 3.

The story this season has revolved around the war between The Seven and The IO, with each team fighting to control different areas of the map.

This is set to come to a head with the upcoming Doomsday event, and the first teasers have already started with the brand new lobby background.

New Doomsday event lobby background

Epic Games has added a new lobby background to Fortnite which gives us a first look at what we can expect to see during the upcoming Doomsday event.

As fans will know, the Chapter 1 map was sucked into the Zero Point at the conclusion of Season X back in October 2019. This map then was reformed as the Chapter 2 and Chapter 3 maps, meaning that many parts of the original map have appeared in future Chapters.

At the start of Chapter 3, players noticed that part of the Mecha Team Leader robot could be seen in the water surrounding the island. The Mecha Team Leader was part of the Chapter 1 Season 9 event and lost its arm in a fight with the Cattus.

Since then, the arm has disappeared from the water which led many to believe that we would be seeing the Mecha Team Leader once again, and this new lobby background confirms it.

In the background, we can see part of the Mecha Team Leader that is still intact. It is likely that the rest of the body is being reattached and will be finished in time for the event.

There have been no leaks so far regarding what we will see during the event, but it is exciting to see the teasers already begin and we’re likely to get many more over the coming weeks.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 is currently scheduled to end on Friday, June 3rd.
