Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 start date and downtime announced
Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 is almost over and it is time for Season 2 to begin. This season has brought with it a brand new map, a new loot pool, as well as new mechanics such as sliding and the tornado.
So far, there haven’t been any teasers for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 2 which is very unusual, but we finally have a release date for the new season.
In a Tweet, Epic Games revealed that the new season will begin on Sunday, March 20, with the downtime for the 20.00 update beginning at 3 am EST/7 am UTC.
“Downtime for Chapter 3 Season 2 will start at 3:00 AM ET (07:00 UTC) with matchmaking being disabled 30 minutes prior.”
With the start of Chapter 3 Season 1 we saw the game go offline for an extended period, similar to how Chapter 2 Season 1 began. With the Battle Pass ending on a Saturday, many players assumed that Season 2 would follow the same pattern, but it looks to be like a regular update.
As with previous Fortnite seasons, we can expect the downtime to last for 2-3 hours before the servers come back online.

There will be a brand new Battle Pass and likely many new changes to the loot pool and map. There has been rumors that Doctor Strange will be part of the Season 2 Battle Pass, but this is unconfirmed as of right now.
