Fortnite Chapter 3 is almost here, with the new season launching in under one hour at the time of writing this.

The game will see one of its biggest changes to date, with it moving over to Unreal Engine 5, a new map that will feature many iconic Chapter 1 locations including Tilted Towers (which will be added at a later date), a sliding mechanic among many new items, as well as bringing a brand new Battle Pass which will include Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Ever since the conclusion of the Chapter 2 Season 8 event the game has shown water with items slowly drifting across, and some players have managed to spot a weapon that hasn’t been in the game since 2017, the Zapotron.

Zapotron could return in Fortnite Chapter 3

During the extended downtime as Epic Games implements Chapter 3, players have watched various items and debris float on the water across the camera’s view.

Some players were able to spot the Zapotron, an OG weapon that hasn’t been seen since 2017 when the weapon was added in the 1.6.3 update before being vaulted shortly after in the 1.6.4 patch.

The Zapotron was able to deal 150 damage, with a 2.5 headshot multiplier for 375 damage, making it very similar to a Sniper Rifle.

It has now been over four years since the Zapotron was in the game, with it being vaulted on October 5th, 2017, just nine days after Fortnite: Battle Royale launched.

Epic Games hasn’t confirmed whether the Zapotron will be making a return and it could just be a nod to Chapter 1, but it will be very exciting to see it return as the vast majority of players have never had the chance to use the weapon in-game.

Speaking of Chapter 1, many classic locations are set to make an appearance on the Chapter 3 map including Shift Shafts, Greasy Grove, Loot Lake, and even Tilted Towers which is currently buried beneath snow which will slow melt over the course of the season.

Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 1 will go live on December 5th at 10 am EST/3 pm GMT.
