Its time to go to Paradise

The theme for Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 is Paradise. This led many fans to believe that POIs such as Paradise Palms could be making a return, along with a more tropical and vacation-themed season, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

This begs the question of why it is called Paradise, but we’re sure all will be explained once the season kicks into full gear.

The Season 4 Battle Pass Skins have been revealed

As with every new Fortnite season comes a brand new Battle Pass, featuring many new skins for players to unlock as they level up.

Season 4 is no exception and features some awesome-looking skins that will surely become fan favorites among the community.

Paradigm will be immediately unlockable upon purchasing the Battle Pass and should feature an unmasked style that uses the face model of Hollywood actress Brie Larson who also voices the character.

Other notable characters include Meow Skulls, which was previously leaked and is a “goth” style of the Meowscles skin.

Another skin that is noteworthy is Twyn, with a recent leak confirming that it is the first transgender character in Fortnite, which is great for the representation of the LGBTQ community.

Marvel’s Spider-Gwen will also be the level 100 skin this season, with The Herald being the “secret skin” for Chapter 3 Season 4.

New Cinematic and Battle Pass trailers

Two trailers have been released ahead of the start of Chapter 3 Season 4. The first is a cinematic story that furthers the story and helps set the stage for the events that will take place through the season.

And the second showcases the brand new Battle Pass skins, check them both out below.

New Mechanic: Phase through walls

A new mechanic has been added this called which allows players to phase through walls. This means that players can pass through structures whether buildings or player made and get to the other side of them, which means that players won’t be able to just box up as easily.

This is done by using the new Chrome Splash item, which takes us to the next part of this patch notes article.

New Item: Chrome Splash

The Chrome Splash is a brand new item in the Fortnite 22.00 update. By throwing this onto structures, whether buildings or player made, it will allow the player to jump straight through the building, which means players with high ping can’t just hold walls like they used to.

By using the Chrome Splash item, players can use it on themselves to become immune to fire damage and also become a Blob when sprinting, allowing players to move faster, be immune to fall damage, and be able to air dash similar to the Zero Point Fish effect.

New Location: Herald’s Sanctum

Herald’s Sanctum is a brand POI for Chapter 3 Season 4 which takes the place of the Sanctuary and will feature The Herald, a Mythic boss that will also be the secret skin of the season.

To be honest, this is great news because I hate the Sanctuary.

Loot pool changes

As with every season, the loot pool is shaken up to keep things fresh. It looks like only the Lever Action Shotgun, Rapid Fire SMG, and Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper have been unvaulted this season.

While notable weapons such as the Striker Pump and Two-Shot Shotguns have been vaulted, along with the Burst Assault Rifle.

Here is the current loot pool that will be in Chapter 3 Season 4.

  • Sidearm Pistol
  • Prime Shotgun
  • Lever Action Shotgun
  • Rapid Fire SMG
  • Suppressed Submachine Gun
  • Ranger Assault Rifle
  • Hammer Assault Rifle

Sniper Rifles have been buffed

One of the more disappointing changes in Fortnite was that Sniper Rifles could no longer eliminate a player with a single shot.

This has now changed with the Fortnite 22.00 update and most Sniper Rifles are now capable of one-shotting an opponent with a headshot, even in Zero Build.

Here are all of the changes that have been made to the Sniper Rifles in the game.

  • Hunter Bolt-Action Sniper – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Hunting Rifle – damage and headshot multiplier increased
  • Automatic Sniper Rifle – damage and headshot multiplier increased

Vaults are once again in Fortnite but this time they need keys to be opened. Players can find keys scattered across the island and use them to open certain vaults.

Low-Security Vaults will only require one key, while High-Security Vaults will require two but will reward players with even better loot.

New Item: Port-A-Bunker

The Port-A-Bunker is a brand item for Chapter 3 Season 4, creating an instant 1×1 structure of metal, ramps, doors, and defensive tires.

This will act similar to the Port-A-Fort but will be a much smaller build.

New Mechanic: Slide Kick

The sliding mechanic is one of the best changes to come to Fortnite at the start of Chapter 3.

Epic Games has continued to evolve it and now players will be able to knock back opponents by sliding into them.

We’re not sure if it causes any damage but it could be at least enough to get them far enough back that you can get a good angle on them or prevent them from hitting that headshot with a Shotgun and sending you back to the lobby.

Cronus is banned

Third-party devices such as the Cronus have long been an issue for competitive games. These devices allow controller players to modify the game by doing things such as improving aim assist and removing recoil from weapons.

This has been very hard to detect and developers are constantly battling to improve their detection and stop players from using them.

Now, Epic Games is the first major developer to publicly state that users of Cronus and other similar devices could be banned from the game.

It will be interesting to see whether other games such as Call of Duty will follow with similar announcements soon.

Fortnite is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
