Despite all the quality of life features Final Fantasy XIV has pumped out throughout the years, one puzzling exclusion is that of the enemy health percentage as a default setting. Considering the huge influx of new players, I figured I could help here. Even as someone who joined in early Heavensward, this setting has never once been on by default despite how incredibly helpful it is throughout your adventures in Eorzea. Here’s how to do it.

Enemy Health Percentage

The feature itself is, well, pretty self explanatory. In FFXIV, when attacking an enemy, their health bar drops visually. However, when health pools are in the millions, the ability to add the percentage indicator on an enemy’s health bar is a welcome one. Many mechanics are either time based or health percentage based, and arming yourself with more information is always useful.

To start, the setting is under the Character Configuration tab within the menu. Toggle down to UI Settings, go to the HUD tab, and scroll all the way down.

Upon checking the box, you’re done! When attacking an enemy, its enemy health percentage will be displayed above the enemy’s health bar. I’ve included an example as to what this looks like in practice, and do note that you have almost complete freedom with moving around UI elements so the enemy’s health can be displayed wherever you like.

Practicality

While this may seen like something pretty small, especially in early levels, the ability to look at an enemy’s health as a percentage allows a better idea of just how healthy it is. Many attacks early on may do 10-20% of a health bar on its own, but by level 50 and later, one hit can do a negligible dent in a health bar and really doesn’t successfully convey health.

In Shadowbringers, a feature was added where, below 2%, the enemy’s health will be displayed with one decimal point attached. An example would be 0.7% for instance. As many raids are time sensitive in their completion, a simple 1% could account for any health between 0.1%-1.9%. Basically, due to popular demand, low enemy health is even more well defined!

Here’s hoping this answered any questions you may have, and your enemy’s health is firmly displayed in numerical form!
