FFXIV Dancer: Endwalker Job changes

In the recently live streamed Letter from the Producer LIVE Part 66, numerous details were revealed about the upcoming expansion to the hit MMO Final Fantasy XIV, Endwalker. The Live Letter primarily focused on the changes and adjustments being made to all of the jobs currently in the game and the two new classes. While I’m not a master at every class in the game, I have a baseline knowledge of every class, enough to comment on the most apparent changes. Here’s everything we know about the new FFXIV Dancer!

NOTE: As the Media Tour embargo has lifted, extra info has come out about all jobs. While most of the information is still fairly accurate, I’ll be making a piece per “role” in the game to make note of especially interesting things we couldn’t glean from the Job Actions trailer.

As a disclaimer, all content in the video is technically subject to change, and Naoki Yoshida did mention that not every new trait or action has been shown in the Job Actions trailer. Additionally, my comments are based on a mixture of the content shown and discussed and speculation based on previous job knowledge. Without further ado, let’s get started! Here’s the Job Action Trailer for reference.

As with the other physical ranged DPS in FFXIV, Dancer looks to have minimal changes overall, mostly focusing on its identity as a very support-oriented DPS, with the occasional insanely damaging attack.

One interesting change is that of Flourish Cascade and its similar weaponskills, as they’re told to be shared across single target and AoE. I have to assume this means, say, if one were to get the 50% proc chance after Cascade, it’d give both the first proc of single target and AoE, and a similar thing for the second hit of Dancer’s combos. Ultimately, its a small change which is mostly quality of life, but a nice one nonetheless.

Technical Finish, Improvisation, and Devilment have all be stated to have a new action available upon execution, but the video also looks to show a follow-up to Saber Dance as well, which one can only assume does more damage than the original. Dancer has always been about low consistent damage, but insane spikes through things like Standard and Technical Step as well as Saber Dance.

From what I can tell of other Dancer mains, as well as my own experience with the class at level 80, reception to the new Dancer looks generally positive, and I’m inclined to agree.
