FFXIV: 6.08 patch introduces new Datacenter and many buffs

new datacenter buffs featured

The newest patch for Final Fantasy XIV is here, introducing the long-awaited Oceania Datacenter and some well-deserved buffs for some underperforming jobs, such as Paladin, Dancer, and Ninja.

The 6.08 patch was announced by the director and producer Naoki Yoshida a few days ago in the Radio Mog Station program, being the last bridge before the official 6.1 patch, the first big patch for Endwalker.

Players can also finally buy the game once again since it had its sales temporarily suspended due to overpopulation on every server during the release of the new expansion. The Home World Transfer Service is also back.

The Materia Datacenter is now available for Home World Transfer Services and also for creating new characters. Transfering to Oceania is currently free of charge, and grants the players some bonuses such as double EXP until level 80 and Gold Chocobo Feathers, which can be exchanged for exclusive prizes.

Oceania was chosen to receive the data center thanks to its large portion of players who were currently playing on other Worlds. Now they can enjoy a much more stable connection and a much lower ping than before.

5 new servers, named after the Heavensward trial bosses (Ravana, Bismarck, Sephirot, Sophia, and Zurvan) are available and should help relieve future congestion problems on the servers.

Lots of well-deserved buffs

The new data center was not the only feature, since many classes received buffs in some of their skills. They were relegated to simple potency adjustments, but are more than enough for some classes that already feel good when playing.

Ninja received some follow-up buffs since its last changes were not enough to bring it back to the game. Machinists and Summoners also had similar buffs, even while being more popular classes.

Heavy-hitting jobs such as Black Mage, Dragoon, Monk, and Samurai also received some extra potencies. Samurai in particular is a special case since part of the community has gone to the point of harassing the developers demanding for buffs to the job, leading to Yoshida asking them to stop.

But the biggest winners of the patch were Paladin and Dancer. While Paladin received amazing new tools in the expansion, its damage was way below other tanks. Their new level 90 skills were bulked up, which should be enough to let them catch up with other jobs.

Dancer was never known as a job with big numbers, but it desperately needed some boost. It was not uncommon for some well-geared Dark Knights (the tank with the highest DPS currently) to out damage similar geared Dancers. The situation should be under control now since the job received a huge 40 potency buff on each of their basic skills.

The next major patch should be arriving around April, where we may see even more balance changes, along with the introduction of new story content, new high-end fights, and the new housing system. The new data center and those many buffs should be the last big updates we’ll receive in a while.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently in its Endwalker expansion, which brought many new dungeons, trials, and enemies. The Male Viera race is now playable, as well as the new jobs Reaper and Sage. Previous jobs also received updates, as well as many other aspects of the game.
