Destiny 2: More Vault of Glass details revealed

Destiny 2 has had its player base waiting impatiently for the most revered raid in the series, the Vault of Glass.

In this week’s TWAB post, Bungie has given more details about the returning raid. Many questions still linger in my mind personally, but maybe that’s for the best, given that the day one race of any raid should be as big of a puzzle as possible.

This world’s first race will start on May 22nd, at 10 am, and the minimum power level requirement is going to be 1300.

For the uninitiated, new raids in Destiny now have a modifier called Contest, which limits players’ power to the bare minimum needed to enter the activity.

This means that anyone who plays the raid on the day it launches will have to be extra careful during encounters, as everything will hit much harder.

Vault of Glass’ encounters aren’t too difficult once you figure them out, but given that Contest mode is going to be on, there will be some strategy needed to survive certain encounters.

In addition to the Contest modifier, Bungie is requiring some more effort for raid teams to obtain the world’s first title.

In addition to clearing the raid in Contest mode, teams will also have to complete a series of challenges to obtain the Tempo’s Edge triumph.

After clearing the raid on Contest mode, the challenge mode will unlock on the director. It’s only upon obtaining this triumph that one raid team will claim the title of world’s first; the other catch with these challenges is that failing any of them in this mode will result in a fireteam wipe.

Bungie has stated in the TWAB post that there will be a belt as a prize like all other raids in Destiny 2, but for Vault of Glass, the belt will be silver instead of gold.

In addition to the different colors, the belt will also feature the original raid team, PrimeGuard, alongside the fireteam that clears it this time.

Depending on how Bungie handles the slight changes to Vault of Glass, this can definitely be a welcome celebration of one of Destiny’s highest points.

The Vault of Glass is revered for a reason, so the reintroduction of such a highly regarded piece of content has to be handled well.

Come May 22nd, we’ll know for sure if Bungie has been working hard at creating something memorable for veterans and newcomers alike.

Here’s to hoping for a well rolled Fatebringer.
