Sledgehammer Games is helming the next Call of Duty multiplayer experience, so you know it’s going to be interesting. Vanguard is making the most of an updated Infinity Ward engine – which will be the same one that 2019’s Modern Warfare used – and there’s a lot of excitement around how it will play in comparison to Treyarch’s Black Ops Cold War. If you’re looking for an Assault Rifle that packs a punch, you could do worse than the Automaton. Here is the best Automaton loadout and class built, if you’re looking to jump in with this weapon.

Vanguard’s Automaton – Assault Rifle

Sledgehammer Games is bringing back Call of Duty WWII’s Automaton with a new version of the Automaton in Vanguard – it’s a little different, but it still retains the core features that made the Automaton a solid weapon in the most-recent World War Two-based Call of Duty title. It’s not the fastest Assault Rifle, but it makes up for this lack of initial firepower with stability and range.

If you’re looking for something that you can use to keep a lane locked down, but you don’t want the sluggishness of a Light Machine Gun, the Automaton can be a good option – provided you have the right loadout built around it. You might want to be careful if you’re looking for a run-and-gun class, though. The Automaton isn’t the most mobile Assault Rifle out there and Submachine Guns are obviously the better choice for these situations.

  • Secondary Weapon – Luger
  • Lethal – Gammon Bomb
  • Tactical – No. 69 Stun Grenade
  • Perk One – Survival Training
  • Perk Two – Radar
  • Perk Three – Double Time

Sledgehammer Games is going to provide at least a year’s worth of support for Vanguard – this means, there’s going to be quite a few title updates between now and the next Call of Duty game.
