Apex Legends Season 8: New Weapons, New Champion, New Battle Pass, New Map & More

Apex Legends Season 8 Key Art Fuse

Time to bring the boom. Mayhem is coming to Kings Canyon with Apex Legends Season 8.

Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends isn’t showing any signs of slowing down going into Season 8.

In addition to all this, a new Battle Pass and Ranked Season are coming alongside the additional content. The Battle Pass, like always, plans to add over 100 items for players to earn and the Ranked Season promises to keep the competitive nature of Apex Legends alive and well for the weeks to come.

Apex Legends Season 8 Release Date

Season 8 is arriving on February 2. Much like previous seasons, this is just one day after the end of Season 7. Fans will be pleased to know that this means there should be minimal down-time between the two, but still with enough time to install the update.

New Champion

Similar to how Horizon headlined Season 7, Apex Legends Season 8 is bringing Mayhem into the mix with Fuse! Fuse is the newest wise-cracking Champion to grace our screens and promises to be a new fan-favourite!

He’s the Champion of Salvo, all the way from the Outback, and rivals Mirage with both his showboating and his actual boat! Check out his introduction in the Season 8 Launch Trailer below:

From the chaos above, it seems that Fuse has made quite the impact on Kings Canyon and the existing roster of Champions.

From what we see in the Launch Trailer, it appears that Fuse is using his missing arm to good use with some sort of explosive launcher. While there’s no official word on what his abilities will be, we know he’s a “blow-up-first ask-questions-later kinda guy”. So, expect something exciting.

New Weapon

In addition to the New Champion, Respawn are bringing a new weapon into the mix: The 30-30 Repeater.

As a lever-action rifle, expect a faster fire rate than some Snipers and more damage than your average Assault Rifle. Respawn have described it as having “hard-hitting rounds” too. With any luck it’ll be balanced from the off!

Map Changes

UPDATE

We now know that there have been several major updates to Kings Canyon following the events portrayed in the Apex Legends Season 8 Launch Trailer.

Crash Site is a new area located in the northern areas of the map, Slum Lakes is now Spotted Lakes, and there are new pathways around the edges of the map that should make Named Locations like Airbase a much more viable drop.

Explosive Holds can also be found amongst the newly-installed ECHO Bases; they offer clusters of valuable loot that can be accessed with the perfectly-placed Frag, or Thermite.

As seen in the Apex Legends Season 8 Launch Trailer, Fuse’s entrance has made quite an impact on Kings Canyon. So much so, in fact, that it’s physically changed the map.

There aren’t any details on how dramatically he has reshaped Kings Canyon, but with any luck this will bring a much-needed refresher to the map.

Patch Notes

At the moment, there aren’t any official Patch Notes to get stuck into. However, there will most likely be some balancing changes and… Could we see another change to Pathfinder’s Hitbox? Surely not…
