Who’s the most toxic streamer & which game swears the most?

Earlier this year, the team at Buzz Bingo sat through hours of Twitch and YouTube to find out the most toxic game being streamed at the moment. If you’ve played any game online with voice communications, you’re going to know that things can get heated. Hell, even when you’re playing on your own… Sometimes there’s just that one boss fight that gets you vexed.

Everyone’s had their own personal experiences with trash-talking and swearing online – a lot of you have probably dabbled in it from time to time yourself, we know we have! Without further ado, though… Here’s what Buzz Bingo found.

Which game is the most toxic online?

Buzz Bingo thought the best way to measure toxicity online was through swearing – which is a pretty good metric. Although you don’t always need to swear at someone else when you’re swearing, it would be safe to assume that it happens quite a lot. Even if you’re not swearing directly at someone, it is a major factor in creating a toxic environment.

So… Here’s what they found out. Everything below is an average from the results Buzz Bingo have collected throughout August 2021. If you’re confused, the term expletive essentially means “swear” in this situation.

  • 10th Place – Chivalry 2
    • 380 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 9.47 seconds;
  • 9th Place – Dark Souls 3
    • 384 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 9.37 seconds;
  • 8th Place – Apex Legends
    • 396 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 9.09 seconds;
  • 7th Place – Fortnite
    • 408 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 8.82 seconds;
  • 6th Place – Counter Strike Global Offensive
    • 428 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 8.41 seconds;
  • 5th Place – GTA 5
    • 428 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 8.41 seconds;
  • 4th Place – Halo: The Master Chief Collection
    • 436 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 8.25 seconds;
  • 3rd Place – Call of Duty: Warzone

  • 2nd Place – FIFA 21
    • 552 Expletives per hour, a case of swearing every 6.52 seconds;

Rainbow Six Siege is the most toxic game to be streamed on YouTube and Twitch at the moment – according to the top streamers, anyway! It’s pretty easy to see why this would top other FPS titles like Warzone and Fortnite – Rainbow Six Siege is a slower shooter with, more often than not, higher stakes. It’s also got a little bit of a cheater problem, like Warzone. FIFA 21 isn’t a surprising inclusion, either, really. However, it’s interesting that titles like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Chivalry 2 have made the cut over more popular competitive online titles like Valorant and League of Legends.

Buzz Bingo also evaluated the most toxic platform and – to everyone’s surprise – PC players came out on top with 380 expletives per hour, equating to around one case of swearing every 9.4 seconds. Xbox wasn’t too far behind with 368 expletives per hour, equating to one case of swearing every 9.7 seconds. PlayStation players are the nicest of the lot, only swearing on average once every 10.8 seconds.

What about the individuals, though…

Who’s the most toxic streamer at the moment?

We don’t mean anything personal by this, of course, but according to the data collected by Buzz Bingo based on the frequency of swearing… It’s xQc. This might not be too surprised if you’ve watched xQc stream before, but… We’re amazed he’s this much swearier than some of his peers.

You’ll be pleased to know that Pewdiepie was actually one of the cleanest top streamers looked at by Buzz Bingo – if we’re talking about how much they swear. According to those collecting the data, he only swears around 48 times an hour! That’s not bad, right? Or is that a lot…? We need to start counting how much we swear, don’t we… Fucking hell.
