Is PS5 going to be the best place to play Hades?

Supergiant Games’ award-winning roguelike, Hades, is coming to both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. As you can imagine, the next-gen version of the title is going to boast a few features the current-gen version won’t. But, will the PS5 be the best place to play Hades?

Hades on PS5 – The Differences

Hades on either PlayStation console is going to look better than the Nintendo Switch version of the title. We don’t make the rules, that’s just how the technology works out. However… What makes the PS5 version of Hades different, and better, than the PS4 version?

Supergiant Games’ Creative Director, Greg Kasavin, has been discussing the differences between the two versions with PlayStation in a PlayStation Blog Post

” The PlayStation 5 version runs at 4K at a target 60 frames per second, whereas the PS4 version runs at 1080p at a target 60fps. On the PS5, the 4K visuals really bring out all the wonderful detail our art team put into the hand-painted characters and environments. “

In addition to this, Hades also makes the most of the DualSense’s haptic feedback features and will make some use of the Adaptive Triggers. They won’t be used as liberally as they are in Black Ops Cold War, for example, but Supergiant Games are making the most of the additional technology that’s on offer.

Furthermore, there’s going to be contextual use of the DualSense’s controller light. This isn’t a PS5-exclusive feature though, as the PS4’s DualShock will also be making the most of the lights on offer. It’s safe to say that these are all additional features that you won’t find on any other platform.

When Does It Come Out?

Hades is going to be available on the PS Store for both PS4 and PS5 on August 13th and physical editions from Private Division will be available at launch. These come with quite a few bonuses, like art books and foil covers, so expect them to set you back a little more than the digital version is going to.

All in all, though, it’s hard to say if Hades is going to be best-played on a PS5. Of course, the additional features and technological advancements are going to make the game a feast for the eyes and a smoother experience; However, the sheer convinience of Hades on the Nintendo Switch is a huge selling point for many people.

If you’re looking to see Hades at it’s absolute best, though, the PS5 version of Hades is a no-brainer.
