Elden Ring Player Tricks Invader by Posing as NPC

Saying that Elden Ring is popular is an understatement. With over 12 million units sold worldwide just in its first month of release, players of Elden Ring have been exploring the possibilities within the game.

From unbelievable speedruns to posing as an NPC, players all over the world try all the things they could think of in the Lands Between.

Recently, a video of one Elden Ring player has gone viral online. In the said video, he used a disguise to trick another player who was invading him.

Not only did the player dress up as an NPC, but he also cleverly mimicked an NPC’s movements. It can be seen in the video that the invader just passed by him, making viewers laugh and applaud the ingenious moment.

The video was posted to the subreddit /r/Eldenring by Reddit user xdc_lis.

The player first killed a Godrick Soldier in the area and put on the armor the soldier was wearing, raised a torch, and began walking like the NPC.

If you happened to pass by the walking character, you wouldn’t have immediately suspected that it was a player as it looked like there was no player in the area at all.

After the preparations, xdc_lis used the item Taunter’s Tongue to lure in an invader and put the plan to the test.

Not long after that, somebody did enter his world. The invader zSplitty followed the compass that led to the host player only to find a Godrick Soldier, the player in disguise.

The disguising player was unbothered and went on posing as an NPC, walking back and forth as he carried a torch, while the invader looked vainly for the host.

In the end, the invader returned to his own world.

While the whole thing was hilariously clever, it can’t be denied that the invader was a bit careless.

The host player’s disguise would have been blown had the invader used the target lock as this feature would have shown the host player’s name.

Moreover, although not very noticeable, players and NPCs hold torches differently.

As the post has since made waves in the Elden Ring community, it eventually reached the invading player. He commented on the thread, saying: “The torch was absolutely the selling point. Never would I ever think somebody would be walking around with a torch.”
