Does Persona 5: Strikers Have Romance Options?

Persona 5 Strikers Romance

Atlus’ Persona series is known as one of the top JRPG series in recent memory, with its latest main installments, Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal, winning over the world with its excellent gameplay, lore, and characters, and being considered by many as two of the best titles of the PS4 generation.

That said, one of the strongest points of the Persona franchise as a whole is in the ability to interact and increase your affinity with NPCs and teammates, deepening your relationship with them on many levels, which includes a wide selection of romance options.

With that said, does Persona 5: Strikers, which is the direct sequel to Persona 5, have romance options, and if it does, does it carry over your progress from the main title?

Does the Game have Romance Options?

The Confidant mechanic, as it’s called on Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal, is not present in Persona 5: Strikers, so the game doesn’t have romance options for the protagonist, and your save game from the main game doesn’t carry over to the new title.

But you can rest easy as the game doesn’t touch subjects that could hurt its predecessor’s progress, and players are still able to hang out with their friends and explore the world by taking challengers, fulfilling requests, doing quests, buying items, and much more.

But Why Leave it Ambiguous?

As we said above, in Persona 5, the player can form connections with many characters and romance a handful of them, after reaching a certain confidant rank and completing their respective quest lines. But, to bring those interactions to Strikers would have meant for the development team to create many new lines and acenes fitting each progress. And, if they choose to pick one relationship as canon, the fact could have hurt all those that chose different paths.

So, all in all, even if disappointing for some, it is logical for Atlus to make the decision.

Persona 5 Strikers was released in the west on February 23 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, via backward compatibility, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can check the games official launch trailer and synopsis below:

”Looking for some rest and relaxation, the Phantom Thieves set out to begin their road trip, until a ruthless Kyoto detective enlists their help investigating a series of strange cases occurring across Japan… otherwise, he’ll arrest Joker.
