Destiny 2: More Moon weapons are being reintroduced

Does anyone remember Sunsetting? It was probably the worst idea Bungie has ever thought of for plenty of old weapons in Destiny 2. If you haven’t played for very long and are confused by the word “Sunsetting,” then be thankful you never had to deal with this odd choice for the looter-shooter.

It was essentially a system Bungie put into place that would make weapons have a sort of expiration date, where they would be unable to reach a certain power level after several seasons. This was implemented so people would be forced to change up their load-outs and not lean on powerful stuff like Recluse and Mountaintop. Suffice it to say, people really didn’t like this change, as it made every new weapon feel like it was on a timer.

Old cheese, new taste

Personally speaking, Sunsetting the Shadowkeep weapons when Beyond Light released was both an odd and short sighted choice given that it had only been a year since Shadowkeep released. To have so many weapons rendered useless was something that has irrevocably hurt the game for many people.

In recent months, however, Bungie has been doing its best to rectify the damage from the Sunsetting experiment by reintroducing older weapons into the world pool and into older areas. In January, we got four weapons from both the Dreaming City and The Moon, and now according to the recent TWAB, we’ll be getting the rest of the Moon weapons as well.

These include:

  • Loud Lullaby
  • One Small Step
  • Tranquility
  • Arc Logic
  • Dream Breaker
  • Every Waking Moment
  • Love and Death
  • A Fine Memorial
  • Night Terror

You’ll be able to do short quests for these specific weapons at the Moon’s Lectern, for a small fee of course. Personally, my favorite weapon was Love and Death, as I rolled it with Spike Grenades and Full Court for massive damage (please let this roll still exist Bungie). The Dreaming City will be getting the last of its own weapons, which include: Tigerspite, Twilight Oath, and Abide the Return.

New oil for the grind

The reintroduction of these weapons means we can get some new blood flowing through these older areas of the game. Blind Well and the Lectern bounties now have more of a use as you can now roll these old weapons with new perks on them. With the reintroduction of these old weapons in Destiny 2, Bungie is making good on its rescinding of the Sunsetting system.

This patch won’t drop until July 6th though, so for now, just take solace in the fact that you too may be reunited with an old favorite from Shadowkeep. Enjoy those Splicer weapons Guardians.

Please give me my Love and Death back Bungie with the proper roll. Posthaste.
