Danganronpa Switch Releases and New Minigame

For a long time it’s felt like Danganronpa and Ace Attorney were two franchises that were always compared but sat on two sides of the console aisle. Danganronpa has been exclusive to Playstation and PC for the longest time while Ace Attorney was Nintendo only before mobile and PC releases. Fans have wanted a Danganronpa Switch port for a while now, and the main series is coming to Nintendo Switch!

At their E3 Nintendo Direct this Tuesday, Danganronpa Decadence was announced, a collection of Danganronpa 1, 2, and V3 all on Nintendo Switch as well as an expanded version of the Danganronpa v3 minigame called Danganronpa S. Based on the trailer, it appears to have entirely new events and character interactions as well as new art, so it may well be worth checking out for fans of the series’ large cast.

Decadence will be a physical Switch exclusive while the four games individually will all be available on the Nintendo eShop later this year. It also notably won’t include the spinoff title Ultra Despair Girls, so it isn’t a full series bundle per se. Both Ultra Despair Girls and the Danganronpa 3 anime have plot important information for the lore nerds like myself.

This announcement was one that didn’t feel necessary, but was certainly welcome. Danganronpa on the go (on systems that are still relevant of course) is nice on its own, but I’m personally excited for the new content Danganronpa S brings to the table. The cast has always been one of my favorite aspects of the series, so new content for the characters is always welcome.

Regardless of why you may want it, it is nice to finally see a Danganronpa Switch release! Finally, all the mystery game juggernauts of Ace Attorney, Zero Escape, Danganronpa, and Professor Layton can be found under the Nintendo umbrella.
