PlayStation Plus game catalog lineup for August 2022 unveiled

An official post from the Director of Content Acquisition & Operations of PlayStation, Adam Michel, just revealed the most recent list of their PlayStation Plus game catalog for August 2022. The games will be available to play for Extra and Premium members on August 16.

The list has a forefront of three Yakuza games, but the post promises that it will add a variety of genres to the mix as the month progresses. Thrown into the list this month is multiplayer game horror Dead by Daylight, the open-world shooter classic Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, and the whacky adventures of Bugsnax. 

The lineup is shaping up to put PlayStation Plus in a better spot in the competition. Here is an overview of the games they are offering for this month.

Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2

Set in the funky time of the 80s, Yakuza 0 follows the exploits of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and series regular Goro Majima. The game puts you in a world where Tokyo and Osaka are teeming with criminal activities and gang-related fights. Kazuma gets entangled in a web of activities such as debt collection and the occasional fist fights as he unravels a string of mysteries. You will eventually follow the normal life of Goro as the proprietor of a cabaret club.

Yakuza Kiwami is the PS4 remake of an original of the same title from PS2 back in 2005. The game puts the players into the shoes of Kazuma Kiryu after his recent release from prison as he navigates his way to Japan in his attempt to save his best friend from the grips of the Yakuza.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is the sequel of the first game of the same title. This is also a remake with an added twist where players also get to experience the game in the eyes of Goro Majima as a prequel to the main game. The protagonist, Kazuma Kiryu, is set to face the Dragon of Kansai, Ryuji Goda, as he gets dragged into a rivalry of clans after a mysterious assassination.

Dead by Daylight gives the immersive experience of players to either be the killer or one of the 4 survivors in this horror game. This 1 against 4 multiplayer game gives both the killer and the survivors the feel of the thrill as gameplay and progression allow unlockable skills and strategies that are customized per character.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is another multiplayer game that puts up to three players to team up and dive into the massive open world filled with rich landscapes. Aside from the visuals, gameplay includes more weapons, gear, and a variety of vehicles.

The colorful world of Bugsnax is set on Snaktooth Island. This relaxing adventure puts players in a more chill environment as they are set to discover, hunt, and capture 100 critters. You also get to reunite the island’s inhabitants as you navigate your way to the beautiful sceneries of the archipelago.

  • Trials of Mana – 3D remake of the 1995 Super Famicom title of the same name
  • UNO – play against up to three friends locally with this classic card game
  • Monopoly Madness – the property trading game where you play as a temporary stand-in for Mr. Monopoly
  • Monopoly Plus – a full 3D city at the center of the board lives and evolves as you play
