Will Outriders Release on Google Stadia?

After a couple of unfortunate delays, Square Enix’s Outriders will finally release on April 1, 2021! It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, but will it release on Google Stadia?

What is Outriders?

“Outriders is a story driven RPG-Shooter that will put the player in the shoes of an Outrider, the last hope of the human race trapped on Enoch, a dangerous and untamed planet. The campaign can be played entirely in single player, or in co-op with up to three players.”

Square Enix describes the game as a story-driven RPG-Shooter and many players have compared the game to Destiny – the king of looter-shooters – and the unfortunate failure, Anthem.

Anthem was supposed to be the Destiny killer, the looter-shooter to end all looter-shooters, but unfortunately was not received very well at launch. Many players have looked at Outriders with a cautious grain of salt, due to Anthem’s massive failure.

However, I’m very much looking forward to the April 1, 2021 release of Outriders regardless of Anthem’s failure, from what we’ve seen of the game so far, it looks like a fantastic piece of work that looks incredibly fun.

Will we get Outriders on Stadia?

Yes, in addition to other platforms, Square Enix’s Outriders will also be available on Google Stadia on April 1, 2021 barring any other possible last-minute delays.

“We’re excited to team with Google to bring OUTRIDERS to Stadia with Stadia exclusive features and the highest levels of performance, allowing players to get the best experience on all supported devices,” said Jon Brooke, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.”

Outriders will also include the Stadia exclusive Stream Connect feature. This feature allows players to view their friends’ gameplay through picture-in-picture overlay in real time.

“Outriders is coming April 1. Play it on Stadia and get instant access across your compatible screens the moment it’s available, with no waiting for in-game downloads, updates, or patches. Combining intense action with deep role-playing, Outriders is a brand new RPG-shooter from the masters of gunplay: People Can Fly. Play single-player or with up to two friends in co-op as you journey across the hostile planet of Enoch in this dark sci-fi epic.”

This is a great feature that will allow you to stream the game to your friends without needing to stream to Twitch or another streaming platform, so you can share gameplay with your friends and coax them to purchase the game themselves!

Although Google has now decided to close their first-party Stadia developer studios, the service will still continue to exist and be supported for the time being.
