After the dust had settled on the 2023 LCS Spring Playoffs round one, both 100 Thieves and Counter Logic Gaming were eliminated from the postseason. For 100 Thieves, it’s a shock to the fans of the team and anyone that had watched them over the last couple of weeks.

As a team, they had gone from eighth place to third place, riding a massive seven-game winning streak. That streak, however, came to an abrupt end after their first game against FlyQuest, a team that had been slipping over the last couple of weeks. During their upper bracket matches, however, it all fell apart. Instead, the 100 Thieves team that we had seen over the last couple of weeks disappeared completely and was replaced with the team we saw during their slump earlier in the split.

They did, however, put up a fight against Golden Guardians, but ultimately fell short of their goal and have now been sent home. It is only known to the team’s management what will happen to the roster during the Summer split, but the hope is that at least the rookie players Tenacity and Busio stay on the roster.

Counter Logic Gaming was a team that was slipping as we headed into the 2023 LCS Spring Playoffs round one, so hopes from the media and fans of the league were lower than what was present during the 2022 LCS Summer Playoffs. They were able to take a game off of the first place Cloud9, but they were unable to take a game off of Evil Geniuses.

As they head home, it’s likely time for some roster changes. Where those changes happen, nobody knows. If one was to speculate, the changes may come in the jungle or in the bottom lane. Both Contactz and Luger have not been consistent enough or have been able to carry on a regular basis to propel the team to the next level. It’ll be interesting to see what will happen to the team during the next split.
