The much anticipated Overwatch 2 just released its Season 1 Battle Pass trailer. It had free instant unlocks, more skins, and unique cosmetics.

PlayOverwatch just posted the teaser on their official YouTube account. It featured new heroes signing up to join the cause, like Soujorn, Junker Queen, and Kiriko. It also promised free and premium rewards in the Season One Battle Pass. Together with this are new epic, legendary, and mythic skins, exclusive cosmetics, and limited-time event specials.

Blizzard made it clear that the game will have both the free and premium pass. All new heroes will also be available for both the free and premium pass. Here are specific details of the big reveal from Overwatch 2‘s Season One Battle Pass:

New heroes with instant unlocks in Overwatch 2

Once the game launches, there will be two heroes joining the cause – Soujorn and Junker Queen. These two heroes will automatically be available for anyone who logs in to their account with the Battle Pass. However, the release of Kiriko will be quite different from the two.

The Japanese kunoichi, Kiriko, will be available for the loyal fans who have previously availed the Overwatch 2‘s Founder’s Pack before June 23, 2022, at 11:00 am PDT. This needs to be redeemed by logging in before the end of Season Two. Everyone else who wants to get her instant hero to unlock needs to purchase the Overwatch 2 Watchpoint Pack for $39.99.

The Watchpoint Pack will also include Season 1 Premium Battle Pass, 7 Legendary skins, 5 Epic skins, and 2,000 Overwatch Coins.

Skins, Cosmetics, and Overwatch Coins

According to the PlayOverwatch post from Blizzard Entertainment, “Season One’s Battle Pass will feature the following unlockable free rewards in 20 tiers spread throughout the 80+ total tiers”

  • Newest support hero, Kiriko (if you do not have her on your roster yet)
  • 2 Epic Skins
  • 1 Weapon Charm
  • 2 Souvenirs
  • 1 Highlight Intro
  • 14 additional items (emotes, victory poses, name cards, sprays, player icons, etc.)
  • Prestige Tier Titles (8 earnable titles available only after completing the entire pass)

Each season of the Battle Pass will be introduced with a theme. The theme of the first season’s Battle Pass is Cyberpunk. These skins will be available as the premium pass owner progresses through each tier of the game.

Perks of the Premium Battle Pass

The premium Battle Pass can be purchased later on in the game through the Shop. It will cost 1,000 Overwatch coins. This is roughly USD 10. However, another means of obtaining coins is through the completion of weekly missions and challenges. If a player grinds through the game, there is a chance you can get the premium Battle Pass for free.

If purchased mid-season, all previously earned tier rewards will automatically be unlocked. For those who do decide to purchase the premium Battle Pass at the start of the season, the following rewards are up for grabs as you progress through the tiers of the game:

  • Immediate access to Kiriko (if you do not have her on your roster yet)
  • 15% XP Battle Pass Boost
  • 1 Mythic Skin
  • 5 Legendary Skins
  • 2 Epic Skins
  • 3 Play of the Game Intros
  • 4 Weapon Charms
  • 3 Emotes
  • 3 Souvenirs
  • 6 Poses

What will happen to the original Overwatch?

Blizzard Entertainment confirmed that the original Overwatch that was launched back in 2016 will cease to exist by the 2nd of October. The servers used for Overwatch will then be converted to Overwatch 2. There will be a total of 27 offline hours to make way for the transition. The movement of the servers should be completed by the 4th of October, which is also the release date of Overwatch 2.

Overwatch 2 will launch on October 4th, 2022 on PC, PS4, PS5 Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.
