Riot Games has officially announced that they will push the Worlds 2022. After the date was moved back to 2021 because of the pandemic, League of Legends: Worlds 2022 is finally coming to multiple cities in North America.

After the smashing success of Arcane, more people are jumping the wagon of League of Legends. The League of Legends World Championship is the best place to ride the hype as this is the year’s biggest and most immersive event.

The event is normally composed on 24 teams from around the globe (except for the play-offs back in 2020 and 2021 when, due to the pandemic, the Vietnamese region could not send their two representatives.) These teams are set to pit against each other in the play-ins, groups, and knock-out phase. This year, Riot Games expects record-breaking viewership as some attendees may not be able to participate as their audience.

What to know, where to go and how to get tickets

According to the official League of Legends Esports website, “Worlds 2022 will kick off on September 29 in Mexico City and will culminate on November 5 in San Francisco.” This time, the Worlds will host 24 with the exception of the LCL that will not be able to send a representative. The eSports website states, “The LCL slot will be granted to the region that has had the best performance during international events over the past two years, but does not already have 4 team berths: Europe.”

Here is the most updated schedule:

  • Play-Ins: September 29-October 4 – Arena Esports Stadium at Artz Pedregal in Mexico City, Mexico;
  • Groups: October 7-10 and October 13-16 – Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City;
  • Quarterfinals: October 20-23 – Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden in New York City;
  • Semifinals: October 29-30 – State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia;
  • Finals: November 5 – Chase Center in San Francisco, California.

Tickets will be for sale starting September 8, 2022. For fans of League of Legends World Championship looking to score a ticket for the Finals in Chase Center, Riot Games confirmed that they will have to wait until September 29 for the start of the sale of their tickets.

The League of Legends website provides a link where you can pre-save tickets for the Play-Ins. If you do not understand Spanish, you can use the “translate this page” feature of your browser. Make sure to use “Artz Pedregal” for your tickets.

With more than two weeks before starting the sale of tickets, this should give ample time for fans to start gathering resources and planning their accommodations before the events. If you plan to stay for the entire duration of the Play-Ins, we strongly suggest booking early especially if you plan to travel as a group.

A recent tweet from the official lolesports account also gathered comments on what you can do before and during the Play-Ins.
