The MSI 2022 Finals are here. Today the champion will be crowned. Will Faker win MSI for the third time, or will Royal Never Give Up be able to defend their crown? Who will rise up and make their case for the crown?

Royal Never Give Up Defend Their Crown

Royal Never Give Up did it. Despite playing from home because of increased lockdown rules in China, they were able to defend their crown as MSI champions after winning last year. They looked dominating in each and every one of their wins, and despite dropping two games in the Rumble Stage, they always looked strong and the favorite to win it all.

Despite them winning, fans of T1 and other teams in the tournament have had problems with MSI from the start. Teams that were in-person had to play with artificial ping, something that is not common at LAN events for any major League Of Legends tournaments.

During the first week of the tournament, teams in Busan, South Korea complained that the ping did not feel the same as it was advertised, causing Royal Never Give Up to have to replay the three games from that week at the end of the stage.

One reason people are upset with the way the Chinese team was treated is due to the way that Vietnam was treated for international events during the peak of the pandemic. During the pandemic, due to government laws in Vietnam, they were not able to travel to MSI or Worlds because of those laws.

China did not have the same treatment when its government was not allowing them to travel to South Korea for the tournament. Though the fans had that sentiment, it shouldn’t take away from the accomplishment of RNG winning their second MSI championship in a row.
