League of Legends: 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen recap

The fan view of the stage during the 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen

The 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen is here, which means that after this week, there is only one more week before the Spring Playoffs start. That means every team, outside of Dignitas, still has a chance to make it into the top eight teams that make it into the playoffs.

Of the teams that are right now on the outside looking in heading into the 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen, Team Liquid Honda and 100 Thieves are the two that have the most to prove. Both teams managed to pick up wins last week, but they still can’t stop now. If 100 Thieves win every game moving forward, including today, they can still make the top four in the league, but with how they have played so far, that might be a lot to ask.

In terms of teams that are a surprise this season, Golden Guardians have surprised everyone. To start the day, they are in fourth place. After having one of the longest win streaks in the league at seven games, they have lost a couple of games in the last couple of weeks that have been easily winnable for them. Can they regain their form and go on another streak, or will they start to slide down the standings?

The 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen was the start of the do-or-die scenario for the star-studded 100 Thieves LCS roster, and Closer, the jungle for 100 Thieves, showed up. Playing one of his signature champions, Lee Sin, he popped off against the surging Golden Guardians. He was ganking early, creating leads for his team, claiming objectives, and made plays for his team so they could continue their snowball against their opponents.

He wasn’t the only player that showed up today, however. Bjergsen and Doublelift both started to play up to their namesake, with Doublelift specifically showing up in lane in ways he hadn’t in the previous weeks. He was playing aggressively when he could and playing safe when he couldn’t. We didn’t see him dive into the enemy team on Xayah, one of his comfort champions, instead, he got fed and ran over the enemy team.

If this form continues for 100 Thieves, they may just be able to make the run into playoffs, and take the fourth seed away from Golden Guardians, especially since they now hold a tiebreaker over them. Only time will tell, however, if they are able to do it, but the 2023 LCS Spring Split day fourteen was a good start for the team.
