It’s the second week of the 2022 LCS Summer Split, and there are questions to answer about every team. Is Counter Logic Gaming actually a contender after swapping top laners? Is Cloud9 in trouble even with their starting lineup this weekend? Are 100 Thieves just a middle-of-the-pack team this split?

After the first week of the 2022 LCS Spring Split, there were questions about Counter Logic Gaming after finishing the week with a perfect record. Doubts about if the team was really able to be a contender for a title and make it to Worlds 2022.

On the first day of this week, they suffered their first loss of the season to FlyQuest, a team that last year finished middle of the pack in the regular season in sixth, and were knocked out in the first round. For anyone that had doubted the team, it was an answer to all their questions.

On the second day, however, they came back with a vengeance. In a fantastic game against defending champions Evil Geniuses, with their backs against the wall, they were able to come back from a gold deficit that at one point was over five thousand.

The outcome of this game wasn’t due to a throw by Evil Geniuses, rather it was Counter Logic Gaming playing well and not losing their cool when all seemed lost. If this team is able to play up to the level of their competition, and not miss the mark against lower opponents, then they may actually be a threat.
