2021 World Championship Quarterfinals Day One

The 2021 League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals started with T1 going against Hanwha Life Esports. Nobody expected Hanwha Life Esports to make it as far as they have, and they looked to extend their run deeper into the 2021 League of Legends World Championship.

Chovy Life Esports Falls

Commonly called Chovy Life Esports due to their dependence on the star mid laner, it wasn’t enough to get themselves out of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals. The matchup that everyone was watching, Faker versus Chovy, was the first time that Chovy had fallen behind in lane during all of the tournament.

The rest of T1 was also just too much for the laners of Hanwha to handle. Canna, the T1 top laner, and Gumayusi alongside Keira in the bottom lane were too much to handle for their lane counterparts, and Oner, the 18-year-old jungler for T1 dominated the map. It’s hard to pick one player or one lane that stood out the most, just because T1 was so dominant.

Faker Moves On

Surrounded by the talent that is around the age of 18, Faker is moving on to the semifinals. The last time that T1 made it to the semifinals at the World Championship was in 2019, where he and T1 lost to G2, a team led by Perkz. This version of T1 is very different though. The youngest members of T1 were 13 years old or younger when Faker won his first World Championship back in 2013.

The 2021 League of Legends World Championship Quarterfinals continue tomorrow with Edward Gaming going against Royal Never Give Up at 5 AM PST/ 8 AM EST/ 1 PM BST, and can all be watched at LoLEsports.com.
