After releasing their official teaser in March of this year, Tekken: Bloodlines is now out for streaming on Netflix.

The first season has been released with six episodes with a total run time of around 160 minutes. Each episode is around 20 to 30 minutes long, consisting of 6 episodes. This could be your perfect weekend if you’re looking for a quick binge of an anime series.

This isn’t the first rodeo of Netflix when it comes to an anime series. Other notable anime series on Netflix include Super Crooks, Record of Ragnarok, Japan Sinks, and more. Although definitely not at par with the anime giant Crunchyroll, “Netflix Originals” anime series & movies are slowly making waves to make a name in the anime community. However, most of the anime series offered by the streaming website is not entirely produced by Netflix. They buy international distribution rights and syndication to these anime series and movies. As such, they may be tagged as originals from Netflix. Since the company does not produce them, they do not have control over the decision to make a sequel.

The story of Jin Kazama

For avid franchise fans, the story’s timeline is set between Tekken 2 and Tekken 3. It follows the journey of young Jin Kazama in Yakushima. After the tragic death of his mother, Jun Kazama, Jin becomes blinded by rage and hesitantly goes to his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima, for his training. Hungry for revenge against the Ogre that murdered his mother, this is where the plot thickens.

If you are still familiar with the lore of Tekken 3, the epic battle between Jin and the demon ogre (yes, that monster with wings and a snake for a hand) as they fight for the title “The King of Iron Fist Tournament.” Before that happens, though, Tekken: Bloodlines will tell you the story of how Jin and Jun were defeated by the ogre and the mystery behind his mother’s disappearance. However, knowing that Jun may not be able to take on the ogre, she warns Jin not to look for his grandfather. Despite his mother’s warning, Jin finds Heihachi.

“‘Power is everything.’ Jin Kazama learned the family self-defense arts, Kazama Style Traditional Martial Arts, from his mother at an early age. Even so, he was powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage.”

Aside from Jim Kazama, Tekken: Bloodlines will also introduce all-time favorites like Nina Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Paul Phoenix, Hwoarang, and more unforgettable names that will take you back to your childhood memories.

Netflix Originals is notorious for starting great anime series but never really following it up with a Season 2. With this in mind, we may be looking at Tekken: Bloodlines as one of the many victims of the streaming website. This may cause an irk with the fans of both the game and the series. However, if the new anime series turns out to be a success, it may break the chain and possibly spring a new hit series for the streaming service. With this, only time can tell.
