One Punch Man: When is Season 3 happening?

One Punch Man was very well received for both of its first two seasons – though the second did receive more criticism than the first – but where exactly is Season 3?

Has it been cancelled? Is it being worked on still? Delayed? Lets get into it, shall we?

When is One Punch Man Season 3 coming out?

This is the main question everyone wants to know regarding the series – unfortunately no release date has been confirmed.

It is however, quite likely that there will be a Season 3, because there hasn’t been any confirmation of the anime being discontinued.

With that in mind, let’s move to speculation a little to make some educated guesses…

Older seasons release dates and speculation

Season 2 started way back on the 2nd of April in 2019 and finished airing its episodes on the 2nd of July in the same year.

That said, the English episodes came out later, ranging from October 12th, 2019 to January 12th, 2020.

It’s worth noting that the first airing of Season one was way back on October 5th, 2015, with English starting later on July 17th, 2016.

That puts the gap between new seasons at around… 3-4 years for the previous iterations at least.

Now if we assume that the demand is obvious and this becomes a priority project due to how popular season one was – and to a lesser extent, season two was – we can guess it might be a bit faster than that at least.

But with that said, the development may have also been slowed down by COVID, which is an unfortunate reality we have to deal with – so even if it was a priority, it likely won’t be near production right now with everything considered.

Expectations

So where does all this leave us? Well, we still don’t really know. The most likely scenario is the most obvious right now, we just need to wait longer.

If you’re a big fan who’s been waiting anxiously for new content, however, you should likely know that we won’t be getting it this year, in all likelihood.

It’s likely that given the popularity of the series, they’d announce it the moment they had a good idea of when we can expect it, even if it was 6 months out and the statement was a vague “sometime this year”.

So with that all in mind, we can reasonably expect it to be at least a year out, barring any major surprise.

What will season 3 be about?

Season 3 is expected to focus on Garou and the Monster Association after Season 2 left them mostly unchecked with Garou establishing his power versus a large number of opponents.

So if you’re a big fan of the monsters, Garou, or just waiting to see Saitama beat the hell out of something again – you’ve got a lot to look forward to, but you may be waiting for a while it seems.
