Vegeta Loses 5 Minutes After Unlocking New Form… Again

Vegeta Kneeling

Vegeta fans are something of a punished bunch similarly to Gohan fans in Dragon Ball. The two always get a cool cocky entrance or total beatdown on their opponent before getting punished for their overconfidence, cheap shotted, or sometimes both despite having some of the best character moments, fights, and transformations in the series.

The spotlight came to the Prince of all Saiyans as he unlocked a form which resembled that of the Gods of Destruction to defeat the then strongest warrior in the universe, Granolah. While new details have emerged to show that this form may be more of a side path through the “Instinct” powers, as the name translates roughly to Instinct of Conquest or Conquest Instinct, this set the Interlet ablaze with hopes, nay, DREAMS, that we could finally get a W.

Regardless, I explain the powers of this new form in the article below, though the name of the form is obviously outdated.

While fans were initially hyped to see Vegeta not only outsmart Granolah so handily, but unlock a cool new form which looked all too similar to the Gods, it seems the curse strikes again as he gets promptly smacked back down to size within minutes.

Based on new Dragon Ball Super manga spoilers, despite a devastating multi page beatdown from the warrior, Granolah manages to turn the tides on Vegeta all too quickly, achieving greater mastery of his power and near instantly incapacitating the Saiyan Prince after an attempt to use Hakai to eradicate his foe.

Ultimately, this is an unsurprising turn of events for longtime Dragon Ball fans, especially those who felt Super already relied too much on Goku to win crucial battles. Yes, he is the main character, but others have been getting screwed over for arcs.

Vegeta in the Cell arc, and even mid Buu arc with the Majin transformation was appropriately punished for his excessive pride and hubris. Still, since his character arc which captivated fans, it felt like there have been struggles on how to move the character. Fights either end in Vegeta jobbing (most frequent) or serving as the opening act (Goku Black, Broly) so his actual relevant wins are few and far between. (Android Dr Gero)

Other characters haven’t been immune to the Goku centrism within Dragon Ball. The fusion technique hasn’t really made a difference until the Broly movie. Gotenks has been a joke, and Vegito, like Super Saiyan 3, was a cool concept that ultimately didn’t matter. Gohan’s journey through a non Super Saiyan path has been an interesting one, but Ultimate Gohan only got one real cool fight before going back to the status quo.

Really, this is just the next in a long series of Vegeta blunders. It only feels that much more scalding when he outsmarted Granolah’s wish AND brought out one of the coolest transformations in recent Dragon Ball.

Fans like myself had faith the Prince of all Saiyans would finally finish off a major baddie, but seems Vegeta is doomed to be a jobber.
