MHA Chapter 321 opens with Kirishima, Tooru, and Aoyama handing Dictator over to Endeavor who recently arrived on the scene. He and Hawks deliberate as to how to most efficiently keep citizens safe, and Endeavor ultimately leaves it up to the students rather than taking up Jeanist’s time.

We’re redirected back to the fight with Deku, who is frozen in Todoroki’s ice. Todoroki yells to Deku about how, without knowledge of what All For One’s plan is, it will be most safe to regroup and fight together. Unfortunately, Deku continues about how they shouldn’t be involved as the fight is between One for All and All for One.

After he escapes, Tsuyu feints capturing Deku with her tongue while actually launching Mineta up towards Deku. Mineta shows off a new technique, Mineta Beads 10-joint to grab Deku, assuring him in his normal Mineta way that One for All was never what made Deku cool and inspiring, but his ability to fight no matter the stakes or fears. Despite this, Deku breaks free using a combination of Black Whip and Fa-Jin, but Uraraka comes from above, telling him that she won’t let him run. (Finally some good Uraraka content…)

Uraraka reflects upon when Bakugo was once kidnapped, but before she’s able to grab Deku, he makes a quick midair dodge. In a sudden burst of action, Uraraka reveals the entire class has prepped an assault through the use of Todoroki’s Ice and Mina’s Acid to serve as a track, the launching of Bakugo and Todoroki with the help of Tokoyami and Satou, and a tag team of Todoroki and Uraraka combining their quirks to launch Bakugo even higher and keep him floating.

Narration switches between Uraraka and Bakugo. The former comments that she has so much to say, but that she knows her words won’t reach Deku. She just wants to fight by his side. Bakugo comments that, as much as he’d like to talk to Deku, he has to let Iida take the spotlight. It’s revealed that Bakugo uses a new technique, Explosive Speed Turbo-Cluster, to launch Iida towards Deku while being protected by Mina’s acid armor.

Iida reaches Deku, taking his hand and challenging him. Cut to the scenes we saw of the second user of One for All, commenting that which would be needed to bolster Deku in this time. It was pretty obvious the answer would be Bakugo or his friends, but the theming still works for as simple as it may be.

To cap off the chapter, the exact phrase said by the second user was “people to run alongside him.” To that end, an entire page is dedicated to Iida holding Deku’s hand. Upon being asked to get away, Iida sort of finishes his arc, proclaiming that he is Ingenium, the one who would run anywhere to hold a lost child’s hand, and that this is what makes a true hero. Both cry in a fit of catharsis, and this all beautify harkens back to Deku’s words to Iida when against Stain.

Whew boy… While the theming has always been pretty clear about true heroism, the problems of self sacrifice, and needing a multitude of heroes to create a better society, this mini arc has capped off pretty nicely. Seeing all of Class 2-A show off their new techniques to bring the Deku they idolize and love back, their classmate and not the new All Might. While this new darker storyline may have been admittedly really cool, My Hero Academia has always been at its best in raw emotional moments like the Deku vs Bakugo fights or the Semifinals at the Sports Festival.
