MHA Chapter 317 Spoilers, Panels, and More!

With the weekend on the horizon, the newest spoilers of My Hero Academia’s hit manga inevitably make their way out and we have all you need about MHA Chapter 317! Here’s some of the plot details as well as panels from the current chapter. Spoilers ahead.

It seems that Horikoshi is once again continuing down the darker tone and quicker pacing of recent chapters, as MHA Chapter 317 follows the prior cliffhanger with a minor timeskip and an even more punished Deku. The explosion in Chapter 316 did a number to multiple heroes at the scene and only confirmed Deku’s fear that him being a target of All For One will bring danger to anyone close to him. It was the reason he left Class 1-A and continues to be the reason he’s operating completely alone, even leaving All Might behind.

Heroes are retiring by the day, even those as prominent as Death Arms, and public perception of heroes is at an all time low. Were society to learn of One For All, Deku would have to shoulder all the blame of hero society, and it feels like he already feels that way based on how he’s drawn later in the chapter. With even more assassination attempts, All Might begs Deku to take a break and rest up.

In a true testament to how worn down Deku is, and how much he’s shouldering on his own, he pushes All Might aside and leaves him behind. While he does assure his mentor that he can now operate One For All at the speed of All Might’s prime, Deku before never became so cocky and isolated upon his powers being upgraded.

To cap out the chapter, citizens describe Deku as always looking ragged, bloody, and beaten, gossiping about his multiple quirks, fearing he may be an advanced Nomu. The chapter ends with a comment that he doesn’t look like a hero at all with a telling drawing of the protagonist.

This has sent fans speculating in every direction about the story’s theming, All For One, Deku, Shigaraki, and All Might amongst other characters. Some including myself ascribe to the theory that All For One is trying to break Deku to weaken his mind to either make him a better puppet than Shigaraki could ever be or simply steal One For All.
