MHA 358 opens with a perspective shift to Shigaraki riding on a wave of the many hands and fingers that flow from him while sending out a bevy of attacks on the pro heroes at the scene. We then see that a number of heroes are struggling to keep up with the assault. Best Jeanist notes that they must locate Shigaraki quickly or they will quickly be overwhelmed.

Edgeshot launches an attack which creates a hole in the wave of fingers and hands and expresses his disbelief that Shigaraki can do this without even using his quirk. A monologue from Shigaraki, seemingly being controlled by All for One due to word choice, begins, explaining to the heroes how this works. As the quirk titled All for One adapts to Shigaraki’s body, so too would the other quirks within, molding the body to take a better form.

He continues his lengthy speech about how complete control over Shigaraki’s body and quirk is similar to his desire for complete control as it is ideal. He says the world is falling because control has been lost and that which builds society has lost shape as time moves on. He compares this to relationships as well, as differences too large lead to bonds weakening and even to outright fear and rejection. Showing Bakugo here clearly references his refusal of Deku as he felt he lost control.

The speech concludes by saying that, in All for One’s ideal world of total control, everyone will be equal in their level of exploitation, surely bringing to world closer to that which heroes desire. It seems MHA 358 finally shows how perverted All for One’s worldview truly is as he warps even equality to his own means.

Bakugo then speaks to his disdain of both Shigaraki and All for One since the Kamino incident, and that it passes him off even more that he can’t tell who exactly is speaking between the two. Now that the heroes have bought him some time for the support items to finish preparations, Bakugo reveals his “Heavy Mobile Compact Artillery:Strafing Panzer,” an array of firearms which extend from his back and fire wildly. He says that he and the heroes will completely obliterate Shigaraki’s body.

The boy then views the scene and considers just how many people are giving it their all to do things like erase Shigaraki’s quirks, power their arena, and provide support. He acknowledges that All for One was right about a lack of control and fear, but says that even if he was able to discard those feelings, it is only now he can move forward due to everyone around him. His mentor, Best Jeanist calls Bakugo by his hero name as the boy launches a full-on assault upon Shigaraki: Howitzer Impact Cluster! End of MHA 358.

Passing the torch from Endeavor, it seems it is now Bakugo’s turn to finally have his arc completely be resolved in MHA 358. As a huge fan of Bakugo throughout the series, it feels satisfying, even if a bit predictable, to see his character growth presumably cap off. Still, the final battle doesn’t look to be anywhere near over yet, and I’ll be back to write about the next chapter as soon as details emerge.
